Christians celebrate the Annunciation, when the Angel appeared to Mary and Mary said yes to God's request, on March 25, nine months before Christmas.

We believe that Mary's egg was fertilized and she had a normal pregnancy.

With love in Christ.

Interestingly, the entire concept changed in the 19th century with the discovery of ovaries. Prior to that it was assumed that women were simply incubators who had no active role in conception. The catholic church introduced new doctrine based on this (the Immaculate Conception which suggests that Mary herself was conceived without sin and thus did not taint Jesus). However, in the Gospels it is not made clear. It should also be pointed out that only 2 of fours gospels (Luke and Matthew) have the virgin birth at all.

I believe her egg was fertilized. he was by blood, Jewish. To be declared Jewish, only the mother must be Jewish.
Also, the Bible says he had half brothers and sisters. If Jesus were not related anymore to Mary, biologically, than he was to Joseph, they would have been step brothers and sisters, not half.

That's a good question. If it was an egg, then this god was half human. If not, it was a clone.

She was a human woman, so her egg was fertilized, most likely by Joseph.
The idea of her being a virgin mother is ludicrous.
