First of all, why are you fasting?

If you are fasting in order to cleanse your body to begin a weightloss regime, consult a doctor.

If you are fasting for spiritual reasons, I won't go past three days but I would pray and see how long God would like for you to fast. Most fasts were held so that God would move or show a person or people where to go and what to do.

I don't recommend fasting for weightloss. If this fast is for some other random reason, consult a doctor.

Jesus fasted for forty days in the desert, just so you know, livint off liquids, letting God speak to Him. I'm not an expert by any means but I think juices and such are all right, mainly too keep your bloodsugar up and whatnot. Water and juices but I would avoid sodas and coffees and teas.

From personal experience, the first 3 days are the hardest. After that you will feel more energy cos you've got extra which before was used for your digestion etc. I was working on a building site, heavy work, and had no problems till about 13 days when I started feeling a bit tired, so I broke the fast with stewed fruit and fruit juice, gradually onto soup, then light salad before going back to full meals. Drink as much water as you like, you will have to do something with your mouth so drinking lots of water is a great pleasure.

If you really want to clear out your body, stand on your head, climb trees or do all kinds of exercises so all the gunge in your intestines etc is freed up and you get rid of it. Give yourself an enema if you can stand the thought of it. It isn't unpleasant and it's amazing what rubbish comes out.

Enjoy the feeling of lightness and energy!

Fasting like that is never a good idea. When your body is hungry, it is that way for a reason- lack of the right amounts of the right kind of foods. Granted, there is nothing wrong with adding green tea or cranberry juice to your diet, or drinking extra water. In fact, they are all good for your health. But make sure that you include a balanced regimen of real food as well, and get exercise. If you take care of your body, your body- and your weight- will take care of themselves.

Fasting is not losing fat mass at all. The only weight that you will lose is water weight. It's water even if you are "hydrated" with juices etc. So, it's just the number that will go down.

And yes your body will go through "starvation mode" if you fast.

Basically, if you fast your weight number will go down for a couple days but your body fat will increase and you won't be able to lose it once you get it.

After 1 day of fasting, your body will break down all its reserve sugars. Then after that, it will finally run out and have to go into your fat calories for energy, that is when you begin losing weight. Green Tea is supposed to be good. Check out this site it talks about fasting.

IS THIS A BIBLICAL FAST? IS JESUS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOUR? IF SO ASK GOD FOR PERMISSION AND EXPLAIN THE REASONS TO HIM WHY YOUR FASTING. THE ONLY THING YOU'LL NEED IS WATER. LOTS OF IT. ALSO HELPS IF YOU FAST WITH A FRIEND. THE MOST IVE DONE IS A 6 DAY AND TRUELY I SAY IT OPENS A DOORWAY TO GOD THAT CANNOT BE ACCESSED BY ANY OTHER MEANS. MAY GOD BLESS YOUR EFFORT AND THE REASONS THAT IGNITED THIS EFFORT AND IF YOUR TIMINGS RIGHT EMAIL ME AND I'LL JOIN IN. ALSO WHAT I'VE FOUND IS THAT BY THE THIRD DAY YOUR STRENGTH IS AS GOOD AS IF YOU'D BEEN EATING ALL ALONG!

GOD BLESS

Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Yes, if you starve yourself your body will think it's starving and your metabolism will slow down. Then it will be harder and harder for you to loose weight.
