I agree. Find stuff around the house that can make the obstacles. I have a Bichon that I do agility with just for fun so I did not want to put a lot of money into. However I did go to ToysRus and found a kids crawl through tunnel for the tunnel (which you can also put a light blanket on the end to make another obstacle). The only things I do not have is the A frame and the dog walk! But that's OK for my dog, she just has fun learning and playing! Try searching for some agility magazines they have some really good tips for training.

I do it myself, and jimmy-rig my own equipment... for a jump all you need it 2 lawn chairs and a stick or pole, a hula hoop for the circle jump, wood plank and a random object for the fulcrum to make the teeter-totter, square of plywood for a platform, a tunnel can be made from plastic rings and material, any old bike ramp can be turned into an A frame, etc just use your imagination and whatever materials you have on hand... Just making a few jumps at first is easier then you can work on that... which is easy if your dog likes to jump. Use the same training principles you use when normally training your dog, positive reinforcement.

Join the yahoo group agility equipment. Lots of good plans and people to give advice as well. I am sure there are agility training groups too.

I have made an entire AKC regulation course, it is not as hard as you might think, and MUCH cheaper (and often nicer) than buying.
