No, it's not. However, if you join a postgraduate training course to teach one of the shortage subjects like Maths or Modern Languages, you are eligible for a training bursary of £9,000 while you're studying, and a possible 'golden hello' payment when you finish your first year of teaching.

You'll still have to pay off any student loans you've taken out though.

They won't pay off your loan, but if you go into a subject which is undersubscribed e.g. sciences, maths, languages, etc then they will give you a golden handshake of around £4000. I'd check out the clauses though, I know one of them can be that you must teach in a school of their choice for up to 2 years, which could be pretty tough
