Comb it only when it's wet and use leave-in conditioner (put it in right before combing).

You could have it smoothed at a salon, opti-smooth is a product they may use. It will turn your hair stick straight.
One answer mentioned the Chi straightener, that is a ceramic straightener, your salon can get you one if you ask them. I have one, it cost $100 bucks, but worth every penny. They heat the hair cuticle from the inside out and smooths every strand perfectly. Also try blow drying your hair on the low setting and make sure to comb it flat while you do it, it may take longer but could help. Lastly make sure you are only using salon products, thats everything from shampoo to hairspary to smoothing products. I use Tigi's S Factor for a smooth shine after I straighten with the Chi.
Good luck, try these tips and I am sure you'll get that poof under control!! ;)

Try not blow drying your hair. Comb it with a wide tooth comb after applying a defrizzer, like sunsilk defrizzing cream. As it is drying, scrunch it with your fingers. Also, if your hair is long enough, put it up when you go to bed, that will keep your hair flat. Dont brush it alot, that will make it poof.

try a smoothing serum. be careful, because in case you employ too a lot, it can make your hair even oilier - truly once you employ it too close to to the scalp. as a change, tip your head the different way up and basically note it on the ends. i love the Chi sort really nicely, yet probable any "salon" form product will be solid (like those through Paul Mitchell, Biolage, John Frieda, etc.). also, the answerer above had a superb tip, to placed your product in at the same time as your hair remains moist so as that it would want to seal your hair shafts previously they have a chance to dry and open up (which creates the "poof"). countless the dry shampoos (i love Bumble&Bumble's) can help soak up the oil at your roots with out drying out your ends any more desirable - in case you alternated utilising it and then doing the full-on wash with classic shampoo the different day, that would help. And use a superb conditioner each and each and every time you wash, too - i love Paul Mitchell's Hair restore, yet for a superb drugstore sort, try the Aussie 3-Minute Miracle. The alcohol in some mousses and aerosol hairsprays may also help soak up the oil, truly in case you employ the hairspray on the roots basically, an same way you would as a mousse or gel. i love the Aussie stuff interior the pink can regardless of the indisputable fact that it would want to get sticky incredibly quicky so for you to be careful and note basically somewhat at a time and artwork with it. there is also an noticeably solid product through Wella of their Salon specialist line referred to as "Ends exhibit." you basically placed it on the ends of your hair - the section that's in many circumstances the most damaged because of that's age and the more desirable abuse from warmth styling, etc., it receives. it really is marvelous - probable tied with the Chi serum for my renowned. desire this helps.

I've had the same problem for years. No straighteners, sparys or gels worked. But then I found this straightener, it's called Chi (sold only at Ulta) and its amazing!!!!!!! It got my hair from frizzy, poofy curls to silky straight perfection. You can use rusk str8 spray and paul mitchel super skinny serum along with the Chi for best results. good luck ;)

After washing your hair, try smoothing in some anti-frizz serum. Try Garnier Fructis' Sleek&Shine Weightless Anti-Frizz Serum, it works very well for me.
Also, you may want to try an alternative to blow-drying your hair, only wash it every other day, or when you do wash it substitute JUST conditioner for shampoo every other day.

Don't blow dry it. Don't dry it. Just wait for it to dry naturally. Then brush it. Works for me, anyway.
