From my veterinary book the Nux vomica is usually used for intestinal upsets or vomiting. Hamilton says that it is a most valuable remedy for acute conditions. If your cat is prone to vomiting it would be good to try a dose to forestall car sickness.

If you feel the cat is stressed or fearful from riding in the cat Rescue Remedy might be worth a try.

I've actually never used it but you can go to a vet and get medicines to sedate your cat for the trip. My male cat stresses out a lot in the car and he has to be sedated or he vomits and has diarrhea all over the car. The vet will give them meds in accordance to the cats weight and how long of a trip you need it for. The meds are very safe but I would recommend getting a trial dose for around the house to see exactly how long it effects your cat and how well it works for your cat. sometimes you need to have the vet up the dosage if it doesnt seem to effect your cat. well that is my advice for treating carsick cats. Good luck

Use Dramamine...get the liquid and use a very small amount...call the local ASPCA and ask them...nux vomica may work but I KNOW the dramamine does...on the other hand IF you already have the NV go ahead; it cannot hurt..pets and children respond really well to homeopathy..
