I agree with you totally, these dirtbags are lucky they are not back in the 1950's, when they made them work to clear fields, build roads, dig ditches, break rocks, they have it made, in prison, many get priemum movie channels, can earn a degree, have the greatest gyms, yea, they might not have their freedom, but they are spoiled in prison, and yet, they still moan and groan about thier conditions. What about the victims conditions????

I do not believe that prison should be a nice place, although it should be safe and offer rehabilitation. The reason behind prison in a modern society is to rehabilitate and also remove from problem people from general society.
Dead on, no problem. Make it horrible so as to put people off.
However I believe that the people in it should be heavily rewarded in to making strives into becoming productive members of society. If someone is in prison then they have been deemed to be unfit to be in society and need to change this perception. This can be through work or education. There are a lot of folk in prison that need psycological help too and so they should be given it.
A prisoner who emerses themselves in education or to get a trade should be rewarded and helped. Early parole, extra visits, home leave, conjugal visits etc. If they excel at it and pose no danger to the public at large then release them, under control, and with strict conditions. If they re offend then hammer them.
Someone in the penal system who makes no attempt to better themselves should be treated as they deserve. No early parole, no privileges and no visits.
Prison is for many reasons, one of which should be a deterrent. Stop making it non scary and you'll find less people will accpt going. The only folks scared of prison are those with something to lose.
Also change it so as a persisitant offender gets nothing from the state they have paid nothing into and demand everything from. No house, no dole, nothing.
Why doesn't society look after those that have either paid in or if they haven't been able to pay into it, taken from it?
3 strikes.
In fact, any anti-state offence then they lose the right to any state benefit and if they profess an allegience to another country or anti this country they get deported.
Why not offer prisoners the opportunity to work clearing up rubbish on the highways/byways and beaches of this country? If it's done well then brownie points are earned and the chance for release comes earlier.

I pose this question back to you, what if you say, found a person in your home and you shot and killed that person but, the police say you had an opportunity to escape and just shot him because he was in your home, or, you were in a stolen car and didn't know it was stolen but got convicted anyway and sent to prison?.
Knowing this and experienceing the day to day beatings that some offenders/Inmates endure would you think " wow, I can't complain cause i shouldn't have been there" . Some people deserve what they get but an Inmate should not have to be a punching bag for a guard just because He's had a bad day or just plain don't like the guy or, even worse just wants someone to
BEAT ON!!! There are a LOT of good men and women inside those wall/fences who just had a rough break in life but or are ther for CIRCUMSTANCES they couldn't control.
Just a Little Insight........ I hope this gives you an insight,
and I would ask you to keep in mind, Prisons are full of VICTIMS TOO!!!!

Abusing undesirable prisoners? i think of those prisoners are very fortunate they are being held by potential of Israel and not Iran: on the Jamkaran amassing, Mesbah-Yazdi and Ahmadinejad spoke back questions with regards to the rape and torture quotes. right here text fabric is from a transcript alleged by potential of Iranian dissidents to be a sequence of questions and solutions exchanged between the ayatollah and a few of his supporters. ... "Can an interrogator rape the prisoner with a view to acquire a confession?" replaced into the persist with-up question posed to the Islamic cleric. Mesbah-Yazdi spoke back: "the mandatory precaution is for the interrogator to accomplish a ritual washing first and say prayers jointly as raping the prisoner. If the prisoner is lady, that's permissible to rape in the process the vagina or anus. that's extra perfect to no longer have a witness latest. no remember if that's a male prisoner, then it rather is proper for somebody else to visual exhibit unit jointly as the rape is dedicated."

Just because they broke the law you expect them to be PUNISHED??? SHAME on you! SHAME on your parents! SHAME on your whole family! Da**, isn't having to go to court enough?
Convicts deserve full cable TV! Convicts deserve whatever elective surgery they want! Convicts deserve full access to free weights, swimming pools, saunas, personal trainers, the internet, all books currently available, magazines, newspapers, etc.
Why should someone be separated from their families and loved ones just for breaking some silly little rule? LET THEM PEOPLE GO!!! They are are innocent! Ain't nobody done nothing to no one! And even if they did ... they had a reason!
Now that we have dispensed with the bulls*** ... I agree with you!
Prisoners (convicts) should be afforded 3 meals per day, a place to sleep, and only that medical attention necessary to keep them alive. For this, they should expect to be used for the public good, Non-violent offenders could be used to maintain public parks. Violent offenders are a different story, we should contain them more. 10-15 men on a chain cleaning the roads (two mounted CO's with shotguns (street-sweeper semis, 10 rounds in the drum) or sorting the trash in a secure facility perhaps, just dump the truck out and the cons can sort out the material for recycling!
We could even use violent offenders for training! Hot DA**! I just had a brainstorm! Use rapists and murderers to train dogs for security work! Let the dogs get the feel of tearing into real flesh! Yep we might lose a couple of these punks (BOO HOO!) to injury, but WTF ... we will get better security dogs in return!
Just a few suggestion to make this country's penal system pay for itself! We keep pumping money in, and what do we get for it ... MORE CRIMINALS!!! maybe we should put the penalty back into the penal system!

You would moan if you had to put up with some problems they face. Also, some prisoners are innocent but found guilty by the system and many in the UK are on remand, so innocent until proven guilty. The 'crime' is many on remand will be in prison for up to a year, go to court and then be found innocent because of crown prosecution or police ineptitude. This really fair justice?

The point of being imprisoned is that the person loses their freedom. Every human being deserves to be treated with a certain level of dignity. Believe me most prisons, at least in the UK are no picnic (I've worked in the criminal justice system). More importantly they don't actually work as a deterrant. The resources in prisons don't allow much work to be done to address offending behaviour.
Freedom is a very precious thing. Having it taken away is the punishment.

I work in a female correctional facility. I see both sides. Yes, there are correctional officers who are "bad apples" and think they're god. They treat the inmates without respect and make themselves look like idiots. Then there are inmates who expect everything should be given to them. I have also encountered inmates who say they deserve to be there because they are being punished. These are inmate's words, not mine. I also know of inmates who say they are so grateful for being their because prison has saved their life. I usually walk into work everyday and think that if wouldn't have made the choices I've made so far in my life, I could very easily be locked up. The difference between staff and inmates is that they got caught. Some of us staff members haven't.

US Prisons are places of rehabilitaion not punishment.( blame the do-gooders not me)
On that basis any thing that is not conducive to rehabilitaion has to be fixed. Prisoners, like it or not are still people and have to be treated as such.
Since crime is treated as an aborition and not as a willful act then everything conducive to turning that person around and making them a reformed person in society has to be provided.
Frankly half these scum buckets have no interest in joining mainstream society and should be locked up and the key destroyed and the social workers and do-gooders thrown in after them...but that is only my opinion.

Kudos to you sister! I have been through 35 years of life without being arrested or ending up in prison. It's really not that hard to obey the law. People who choose to break the law have nothing coming and should just deal with their punishment!
