I know where you're coming from on this one. That's one of the reasons why I stopped going to church as well. I think that the ones who have to try so hard to act holier-than-thou at church on Sunday are the ones who are acting the worse outside of church the rest of the week and they feel like they have to make up for it somehow. Like if everyone compliments them on Sunday on what great religious people they are, then they feel better about themselves, even though outside of church they are just awful.
For example, there was a girl at the last church that I attended who got so much attention on Sundays at church for being so cute, popular and holy. Turns out she had sex with both the pastors sons! And this was not some bad church or anything. It was a respectable church.

There is an interesting story that I think about sometimes when I see people go to church and then are two faced after they leave church. This story is a classic reflection on human nature and how it never changes and how its good Jesus died to save us becuase left to our own devices we have no hope!!
Its the story of the slave trade in America. Thousands of black people abducted from Africa and thousands of white people transported from England to be slaves and work on farms. Think about the concept for a moment. In American History if you were a black or white person your children and your childrens children were the property of the farmers and property owners who purchased you. THere were a lot more black slaves transported to America but there were white people who had stolen to survive who were transported to America as well to be sold as slaves.
You could be castrated, made to breed with others of the opposite sex , whipped, beaten, sexually assaulted and treated nothing more than an animal, and while you were away working in the fields come home to find your child was stolen as some rich persons "pet" house boy or house girl and there was nothing that you the slave could do about it. Also your religious beliefs were taken away and you were forced to be a christian and not a "heathen". The helplessness these people must of felt, the humiliation, the total frustration of it all but people survived and went on to live productive lives.
But what about the people who traded in slaves, bought them, sold them and abused them. What about the rich property owners and rich farmers - well every sunday they went to church and accepted christ as their saviour. Every sunday they prayed fervently and worshipped. And never did they question their actions and they truly thought they were a good person.
the moral to this story is this type of behaviour goes on all the time, its not just about being two faced, its about the sheer hypocrocy of it that is truly amazing. And yes I cant be bothered with that behaviour either.
I mean no disrespect I am sure that there are people who practice what they preach and are good and kind but there are a lot that are not, and as reflected in history its been going on a long time.

Well done !!!
I fully agree on that!!!
There are too many people in this world who go to church/Chapel, whatever who think 30 minutes praying once a week on a Sunday makes them a good holy person.
But in reality a good holy person practises and lives it 24/7.

each so often, i'm so crushed with the aid of God's goodness that I might desire to stand to my feet and carry my palms in worship as I sing praises to His holy call. No, i don't run around the church's sanctuary. it continues to be a place of reverence. we could make a delicate noise to the Lord without making laps around the sanctuary.

You are right there are ppl in church that are 2 faced and are not really there for God but just being there just to be there where in reality they just want to get it over with. I am not sure why people are like that, maybe they think that they don't need God in their life but when something bad occurs to them they are going to be crying and will soon face to God. They only remember God in the sorrow times, when they should think of God all the time. I beleive that people should go if they really mean it and really want to hear the word of the Lord.

I only know a few Christians. They are the most twofaced people you could ever wish to meet. One in particular is a real bully, yet she wears her cross with pride.
I believe these people know that the human race hates them and God is their only friend, so they need to make sure he is the one person they visit weekly in church!

there is a woman i know who go's to church who is in a wheelchair and has a fit almost every time she's there so she has nothing to 'thank the lord' for. But she lives by herself. I think most people who believe in god do so because they need something to cling to.

Well little friend - that leaves you with the responsibility of deciding who you are and where you are going, doesn't it. Allowing all those "fake people" to decide what you do and don't do, doesn't show a responsibility on your part to decide what is true and what isn't, does it?? Only what you decide to do with your own life counts in the end - not what all those mean "old fake people do".

Not every one who claims to be a Christian is. Then there are also the hypocrites. I like the Mathew 7:21 answer. How true.

the prob is with the Church's style of worship itself. I mean sorry but that's the truth.... You need to seek a calmer, more mystical and divinely inspired method of worship like Orthodox or Catholic...
