Waivers may be available on a case-by-case basis for those over the eligible officer age of 28. Contact your local recruiter or Officer Selection Officer to discuss your personal qualifications. Active Duty None-Prior Service * Marines - 28 * Coast Guard - Age 27. Note: up to age 32 for those selected to attend A-school directly upon enlistment (this is mostly for prior service). * Army - 42 (must ship to basic training prior to 42nd birthday) * Air Force - 27 * Navy - 34 Age Waivers Age waivers for non-prior service enlistments are very rare. The few I've seen approved involved those who started the enlistment process within the required age limits, but were unable to complete the process and ship to basic training before their birthday. In these cases, only a couple of months of age was waived.

A s**tbird is someone who's a crappy Marine. They can't follow orders, can't do their job, doesn't listen, is lazy, probably overweight and doesn't meet the physical standards. They get through their enlistment doing the very minimum.

A useless slacker, or one who attracts sh!t like a statue... opposed to one who is "chicken-sh!t": one who hands out useless and petty comments.

One of my favorites from my time as a Navy Aircrew Instructor was "Soup-Sandwich"... as in "MY GAWD Airman !! Your uniform is in disarray, your have whiskers on your chin, and your hair is out of regs.... YOU are a veritable SOUP-SANDWICH !!"

Or "Box-of-Rocks": used to question a students intelligence.

My little brother's dogs are often known as Soup-Sandwich and Box-o-Rocks !!
