Hi there,

No it's not bad luck as far as I am aware, but it is a good idea.

With so much else to arrange, and with many suppliers out there being able to provide stunning creations for reasonable prices (if you shop around) then I would suggest that you only make your own cake if absolutely necessary (i.e. a burning desire to do so or budgetary restraints).

Best of luck whatever you decide to do.

No, but it is bad luck to have one of those little water fountains at the bottom or to have something with water in it as part of the cake. It is also bad luck if you don't have a bride and groom figure at the top of your wedding cake.

I have never heard it is bad luck to do that....maybe "bad luck" in the sense that with everything else you are doing in preparation for your big day you may be too overwhelmed at the thought of doing one more thing...especially something as big and as important as your cake.....then again, if you can handle it, and you have friends and/or family that are willing to give you a hand then go for it. It will make your cake even more special!!

I've never heard that, but can't imagine why you would want to make your own. You'll be so busy the few days before the wedding. I know because I thought about making my own and was glad I left it to professionals.

If you go for it, kudos to you!

Well, I don't know about superstition and whether it is supposed to be or not, but my friend's husband made their wedding cake and surprisingly, they seem pretty happy with each other.

no it's always good if you can save money. but if you have never made a wedding cake it would do a couple of test runs.

not that i know of. but unless u have wedding planner help i would not make you own cake because it would take up a lot of precious time that you could be relaxing or planning your wedding. unless its something your dying to do than i would get someone else to make it.

isn't all those things just superstition?

Like not seeing the groom after midnight til wedding?

Or having last stitch put in dress by yr mother or chief bridesmaid just before you leave the house?
