Some of mine have.
I had one cat that got caught in a car engine and survived, then a horse kicked him in the head and broke his jaw, he survived for 4 years after that. Then I think an owl finally got him because he just disappeared.
Another cat was picked up by an owl and disappeared for a week. When he came home he had holes in his back where the owl's talons went in.
Another one disappeared for a whole week TWICE!! I don't know where he was but he was so skinny when he returned home.
If they don't have nine they sure have more than we do.

they dont actually have nine lives, you cant kill a cat and have it come back to life again.
the reason ppl say this is becasue cats are very agile.
for example, when my cat was only a few months old, and i was inexperienced, my cat got onto the window ledge for my 3rd floor appartment and fell out the window. after hearing the screams and realising, i flew to the window to see my cat lying on the grass below and my heart stopped and i was frozen, staring at my motionless kitten.
then he got up and started to sniff around!
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS.
but thats exactly why the myth came about. my cat must have swung himself aroung in mid air, avoiding smashing into other open windows and landed on his feet.
cats are just very agile creatures, not magical beasts with 9 lives:P

This is afigure of speech but some cats are born lucky to survive. We had a cat once that was bitten by a snake. My sister fed it with milk from a syringe. We did not think that it would live but it did. This cat definitely had a second life.

It is common lore that cats have nine lives. It is a tribute to their perceived durability, their occasional apparent lack of instinct for self-preservation, and their seeming ability to survive falls that would be fatal to other animals.

Not really. Oh, and as the first person said, don't shoot a cat to see if it ahs nine lives, because it doesn't.

No this myth was bought about due to a cat being able to turn itself in the air and land on its feet. So if a cat fell out of a tree it would land on its feet and be OK where as you or i may die, thus using up one of its imaginary lives.

No it is just a saying because of the stupid things cats do such as getting stuck in trees climbing everything, and jumping from high places and landing on their feet.

no they dont have 9 lives they have one jus like every other living thing, they jus seem to have more bcoz they are very durable, esp if they fall even from a great height they will land on their feet even if they are upside down in mid air they will land right side up this is because of their tails, they use it to propell themselves the right way up seconds b4 landing.
