when people play their music too loud it's because they are rude, inconsiderate of others & thoughtless.

There are different reasons. Some do it because they think its cool. Some do it because they enjoy pissing people off in the process. Then, there are those who are really in to music, and want to hear all of the elements of the track. Sometimes the lyrics are not the most important part of the song.
I work in radio, so I have to listen to loud music all day every day. Its fairly common in my line of work, but by the end of the day, my ears need a break!

I operate (because I play mine loud)under the theory that it MUST release some important happy brain chemicals that make my housework more bearable. I even play it loud on my i-pod. I just like how the music pulses through my body.
I am alone so nobody else suffers, huh? I live in a secluded area, and Stevie Ray Vaughn can't be enjoyed any other way, besides.

I have been listening to loud music for decades now. I do hope it hasn't damaged my hearing. I have my preferences, which are generally chosen for emotional amplification. I like to do my chores to music, too.
It had never occurred to me for a long time that for some people,music, even soft music, can be too harsh and even traumatic. There is a lot of modern music which is violent, and I don't like that at all. I'd rather hear a recording of elephants stampeding than hear much of today's rap, though I do like some "old school".

I like to listen to my music loud..much to the dismay of my boss who is an ear specialist....I am not sure *why*, but I just get into it more, and it consumes me...? Drives Me crazy when people listen to it so softly that you can really hear it.

certain music just needs to be played loud....the B 52s ist album for instance... try it!

I agree. It's almost like they are wearing their music like it's some kind of audible fashion. Tacky.

My sisters boyfriend once said that it was 'defining' the music, which we both laughed at nonetheless, But im pretty sure people do it to intentionally annoy someone else, heck i did it once! its fun when your pissed off with the world and you wanna piss off someone you hate^^
