I dont think you were wrong. I mean, if I were in a store and my son was there an the employees were talking the way, I would most definately have something to say about it. (it wouldnt be a HUGE deal cuz my son is only 8 months) but if he was your sons age yeah. first of all, the employees should know there is a time and a place for everything, and talking about drugs and that at the workplace is just stupid. They need to think about the way business looks. Im sure if people hear about this and knew what store it was they wouldnt be shopping there anymore from fear of being robbed by these junkies.

I think you were right to do what you did. You needed to send the proper message to your daughter. That being that illicit drug use is wrong, public conversations about them are wrong, and personal and private conversations do not belong on the floor of a store by it's employees. If they want to hold a conversation like that it belong during lunch breaks or when not on company time. And in answer to some of these other folks that have given answers; how was this woman being nosy when she innocently over heard the said conversation while shopping in the store. And she was not a snitch. She was protecting her child and yours.

You did a great thing! if i had a child, i owuld have done this right away. i would have asked to be kept anonymous. Dont second guess yourself, and listen to the little voice that goes off in your head when you know something isnt right. And that was not right. Good Job!

I think you were right, definately. You have to stand up for your morals and what you think is right. Add to this the fact that if they continued working there and stealing from there, the prices would rise for the merchandise to make up for the loss or the business would have to close, depending on the extent of theft. I applaud your morals and your course of action. You've set a good example for your daughter too.

You were right to do what you did. You had a great chance to teach you daughter about drugs, stealing and all the bad things that come with drug use. What a great chance to use real life to teach her! Good Job!

You did the right thing by making their employer's aware of what is happening in their store...and you are not punishing these people, the employers will decide what to do. As long as everyone *minds their own* so to speak....this stuff just grows, then has to be consequences

Good for you. Nobody wants to be the nosy one but we have to look out for eachother in society. Especially when it comes to kids we have to look out. I was at the library yesterday and a little girl was beating on her younger brother. I gave the girl a nasty look and shook my head "no." It used to be that even if you weren't a kid's parent, you were totally in the right to chastise or punish a misbehaved child. If you were an adult you were de facto able to watch over the nation's kids.
I long for those days and I think you did what has always been the right thing. Damn druggies.

I don't know what mall security will do for you. You needed to talk to the store manager. They are responsible for the hiring/firing.

You did the right thing in reporting them, but maybe you got a little ahead of yourself in going directly to security. It might have been better if you had first asked to speak to the owner and made a complaint, and if no one was available then go to security.

Being considered a snitch or a butt-in pales in comparison to having druggies work in an environment where they have access to money, expensive merchandise, and/or kids. Who knows- you might have helped prevent a crime from happening, and you taught your daughter by example to do the right thing.
