We can't ever stop moving forward, accept the status quo. We can't ever think we've made it, that God is pleased with us now and that we can relax and enjoy life as we would wish it to be. Conversion is a process and that means that it will continue until the day you die or the day that Jesus returns. There are many hindrances to faith today and many of them come from within the church, you can read about that in what was written unto the seven churches in the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Just because you don't have a certain feeling doesn't mean your faith has been taken away from you. The gifts and calling of God are without repentance. We are in the last of the last days and the battle for your soul is raging. The bible says that God's people perish for lack of knowledge. It's not always having no knowledge but mostly it's having wrong knowledge that causes people to perish, to sit back and think that everything is ok because they say that they are a Christian and they say "I believe in Jesus" but there is no evidence of their belief in their life. Those who truly are the sons of God will be drawn back to him when they stray.

It is through sheer strength of will that I have held onto what I believe. I went to a school where they told me that I was wrong. My response was that I didn't care. That I didn't BELIEVE that. When I left that hell I realized that my heart had left what I said I believed. Now I have had some time to think about it. I have changed what I believe. Organized it a little. I think I just told you about it in a different question. It has not been easy for me. sometimes I wondered if God was even there at all, and if he was how could he allow idiots like my school mates to profess what was vile and foul to the city and to the world...but it's all part of the bigger picture. I do not know how to help you. I can try though, if you want. If not, you haven't really Lost God. He's still there, he's just waiting on you to make up your mind about stuff. Even if you aren't 100% sure about what you believe anymore, he still listens. If you are concerned about addressing prayers and thoughts to a Creator you aren't sure exists, try addressing it to the Universe. Someone out there is listening.

I lost my faith because i wanted proof. We live in a society of proof, The law system is a huge example. I am still on my journey other than i have a need to know why there are so many inconsistancies. I hope you find whatever you are happy with, take it slow and make sure your questions are resloved or they may come up again. Good Luck

I was once a Christian, and I am an deist/borderline atheist currently. I too, would like to believe in God and Jesus once again, but I just see the evidence as pointing away from them.
For me, the best argument for God is the universe, and the universe alone. Not what's contained within the universe, or what happened after the universe, just the universe.

I grew up Catholic too and i felt the same way for some time after i seperated my self from it. What i seperated myself from was religion. I needed more, i wanted a relationship with Christ and to really know what he was all about. everyone experiences what you feel right now at one time or another in their walk. many men in the bible have questioned and wanted proof of God. 2 Corn 8:9 "We are hard pressed on everyside, yet not crushed: we are perplexed, but not despaired; persecuted but not forsaken struck down but not destroyed. " 2Corn18" While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen." Faith is substance of things hoped for. So dont look to the natural, see through the word of God, thats your proof. Its realtionship, pick up Gods word and just say help me grow in faith, show me the way. The way to God is through Jesus only. The way to the father is through Jesus and accepting Christ as your savior, with your mouth confession. I dont know what your condition is, a lot of Catholics now accept being born again and i hope that is where your at, if not get in the word and seek. Gods word say about the condition of Israel in Romans that they pursued the Law of rightness, but did not seek it by faith, but by the works of the law. They stumbled at the stumbling stone....That stumbling stone is Jesus, who offers salvation by FAITH, not works and requires human pride to be humbled. I will stand in agreement for your way to be found again and to be restored much deeper that before. Remember he, Christ Jesus, is the author and finisher of your faith and he hasnt brought you this far to let you go.

You're progressing in your ability to process logic and thinking. If you're looking for "concrete proof" you're NOT going to find it. I've been down that route checking out all kinds of religions and never found any until I hit Buddhist logic. Finally I found something that was giving logical explanations and someone telling me not to take "their word for it", but to challenge and explore the truths for myself. A lot of the realities seem cold, hard, truths BUT, you must keep an open mind, question the answers and honestly think them over well and NOT get nihilistic and depressed.
There are explanations and there is a freedom from "suffering" but you have to approach with that open, questing mind and be prepared to challenge the Buddha and yourself.
May you find something that helps you along your way according to your abilities to understand.
Buddhanet.net and branch off, or "the Complete Idiot's Guide to Buddhism" and branch off if it suits you. It might not... but whatever works for you is what's "best".

Boethius, Consolation of Philosophy. It's the most indepth understanding of God I have ever read. It gives you logical proofs that help you grasp in meaning the concept of God and how the unvierse is governed. It's an inspiring read about a catholic saint imprisoned and awaiting execution when he writes the book. It's a must read.

I feel your pain. Recently my parents seperated and I have lost my only grandparent. I try my hardest to look to God for advice but something in side of me said that He controls the Earth so He did this to me but the truth is these things happen and people have to die so that we will treat life with the upmost respect. Well what I did was just pray to God to help me and He never lets me down.

I felt that way at first when i deconverted from christianity, i feel much better and I know where i stand spiritually, now the only time i lose my way is when im travelling in a car!
Perhaps you are growing spiritually by not relying on christianity or Jesus to do it for you, its good to stand on your own two feet, it really does sound like you used christianity as a crutch to get by in life. Its better to use your two feet to stand than to use them to kneel.
