Any place dedicated to God should be respected, but only the real presence of God, either in spirit or substance, makes something sacred.

The only place on earth we encounter Jesus in a real and substantial manner is in a Catholic or Orthodox church.

All other churches hopefully experience Jesus spiritually, and rely on his assurance that "whenever two or more are gathered in my name, I will be there."

This latter, spiritual form would include both the Baptists and the Episcopalians.

There are no "sacred" areas in a Baptist church. The National Cathedral is operated by the Episcopal Church. In the Episcopal Church the sacred area is the alter and the alter of repose, or place where the consecrated elements are reserved. A red candle burns there. When you see it you should bow in respect.
