I am 22 and from france, I have met a wonderful girlfriend who is american. I like her a lot, but my friends and family are furious that I am going out with a "culturally shallow, unophisticated american" is how they put it.

When ever she mets my friends and girlfriends "girls that are my friends" they dont speak in english to her and they make fun if her culture.

what should I do??????????

Ignore them!

Your girlfriend is probably a nice and intelligent person. Once they get to know her, they will regret their behaviour.

Good luck and congratulations!

Well first off i'd like to state that I am interested in a very handsome Japanese guy and personally there is, as i've recently discovered, a lot of what you're feeling only in an opposite direction haha. I can give you this; if you're with a girl that you make feel good and she makes you feel good, then honestly you shouldn't be feeling bad at all. It doesn't matter what others say about you and your girlfriend the fact that she clearly likes you should give you enough self esteem to ignore stupid people. Instead of feeling 'intimidated' feel proud that you've got a girl you can appreciate even in her looks? I can understand your distaste for self-centered women so don't go for it? But in terms of you feeling 'intimidated' by western girls, or whatever, i'll have you know there is alot of them who are extremely attracted to Japanese men, or ect. you get the point. I'm one of them, and so don't let anyone make you feel like you should or shouldn't be with someone. Trust your gut, if she's with you she likes you? and if you prefer the look of american girls then go for it? Its a inaccurate stereotype that american girls (of all types) aren't attracted to asian men. hope that helps :D

Can’t you stand up as a man and say what you want instead of using your family and friends as excuse? I am not an American but I think you are a washed up papa’s boy,
Excuse me. flirt!

know that they arent your friends, they are jealous from you and they want to break the relation not because she is american, because you are different, so, leave them and you must find real caring friends who will support your mind and your actions and good luck

You should defend her. If you really like her and see a future, tell them that you don't care what they think. Eventually they will come around.

this will be a persistent issue for a long while, so you'd have to ask yourself if you need better friends, or can stand up to it, and if she can withstand such things too.

Hope it works out :)
