An eternity ring is a simple band, like a wedding band, but it's surrounded throughout with gems, could be diamonds, or other gems.
The husband usually gives this, since this type of ring is mostly for females.

An "eternity band" is a design for a ring: it's a simple shaped ring that has stones (the diamond ones are my favorite) set all around the band next to each other in a row (or unusually, more than one row) They were named "eternity" as the stones make a full circle around the band and when you move in a circle, there is no end. (So romantic!)
This makes for a beautiful wedding band or as an anniversary gift from a husband to a wife and is significant/relevant as it's called an "eternity" band meanign your love is forever. Awww...

Eternity rings stand for a life long commitment to someone. "with them for eternity" I have mostly heard of the man giving one to the woman, but I don't see why it couldn't be the other way around.

is this type of ring usually given to you at your first anniversary? i've heard about this "eternity ring" before but i cant remember if you're supposed to give this during or at your first anniversary...

the man gives it to hte woman it is to show her that you want to be with her for the rest of youre life and beyond. scary thought sometimes. huh. after 24 years my husband just bought me a past, present. future necklas. He says it is because we will be to gether for ever.
