Currently over 60 million according to Yahoo! Education (July, 2005 estimate). Just type in United Kingdom into the Yahoo search box. The estimate in 2006 is at 60,609,153 according to:

This figure just represents England, Wales, Scotland and N. Ireland
Imagine if you included the populations of the British Commonwealth of Nations - the figure would be a lot greater!!!
