Hmmmm..................have you tried getting over it?

If you didn't have the initiative to ask him at the time, I'm of the mindset that it's too late now to try and guess or spend another ounce of energy trying to figure it out.

You may want to go back and see if he does it again ~ then ask him, if it's really important.

Good Luck & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I think he acted the way he did because he felt shown up. He most likely considered himself a wine expert, in much the same way some folks are about cigars or fine fashion. When you picked out the wine you wanted, it probably went against his opinion in the matter and he took it personally. Another possibility is that you may have picked out a wine that wasn't as pricey or high status as the others on the list, and it made him feel cheap. Either way, the problem was him- not you.

The only way to know why people do or say certain things is to ask those people directly. We can only guess as to why he looked at you the way he did. I think the more important point here is how you are going to react to it and how you are going to let this effect you as a person. There are a million reasons WHY he could have done it. If it was that important to you... you should have asked him. Since you didn't blow it off as he was having a bad day and move on with your life. You got better things to do than to dwell on the cosmic "whys".

He's probably was just in a lousy mood or he felt like you were contradicting what he was trying to say, or you had a booger in your nose, or some food in your teeth, or he just didn't like the way you looked---some people are like that you know and it doesn't have all that much to do with you.

some people think I'm the cat's meow, and others think I'm a dog. Do I give a rat's asz anymore? NO!

I agree with SD. He probably wasn't looking at you like youare freak. He just probably has this perpetual look of disgust in all situations. My sister has this line between her brows that makes her look pissed off all the time.. She is just very intense, but I always ask her "GOSH!! why You so angry?!?"

Sounds to me like he was a wine snob. I would have asked what the problem was.

Perhaps you are a freak, have you even considered that?

I mean, some people need to take a good long look in the mirror before jumping to conclusions or blaming others.

Everyone these days seems to like passing the buck.

He was probably just rude, or, I'm serious, some people just look that way. He's a servant, and you're the master in that situation, so he has no reason to look at you that way.

He may have been thinking about something else at the time and not reacting at all to you.

Maybe he didn't like the wine you chose. You should have told the manager.
