The same reason that a large percentage of crime takes place at night.
Because it's dark and the perpetrators feel they won't be identified.
If others could see them, they would behave with decent decorum. Or at least not leave their trash for someone to pick up.

I know what you mean. I always pick up after myself when I go to the theater. When I go out to eat I also try to keep the table as neat as possible so that the person who cleans it won't have a hard time. I was a waitress for years so I know how people can be. I also don't litter and things like that. Everyone is different though and I think that some rude people will never change. I have noticed that the biggest pigs are usually the "high-class" people. That is probably because they have never had to do "menial labor jobs" as the JERK above me stated oh so eloquently heh. It's just sort of funny that some people act so much better than others yet act like filthy barn animals!
I don't really know what else to tell you though bud. It stinks that people are like that but there isn't really anything we can do :(

That's why I don't go to movie theaters anymore. I'd much rather wait until it comes out on DVD or rent it. I remember being shocked at how disgusting some people left their seats, sometimes we had to go around because the row was so littered with trash. One time, some rather large women were trying to sit down a row behind me and my boyfriend, in the process they ended up spilling most of their popcorn all over us, they appologized but still, it was extremely annoying. I'm done putting up with people kicking the back of my chair, sticky shoes from whatever is on the floor of the theater, people that are so sick (like with the flu) that they should even be there, and annoying loud people sitting right behind you when the theater is nearly empty. What's up with that?
As for bringing food & drinks to the theater, I've been guilty of bringing candy, the prices the theater charges for candy are outrageous (at least the ones I went to). But I'd never bring alcohol or popcorn. After all, the best thing about going to the movie theater is the popcorn.

I think that would be fun! But not for all movie theaters, just some. It would be like a chain: Luxury Movie Theaters or something. I don't think it'll work if they all went bananas and started building balconies all over. Movies are popular because of their low cost (still) and thet would increment it a lot. Still it would be a good choice to have!

I honestly don't want to sound like a *****, but it seems as though you just want your job to be easier. It is common probably all over the world for movie theaters to turn into pig sties by the end of a film. Because it happens all the time doesn't excuse the behavior by all means, but it's reality and it's why there are jobs to clean up after people.

People are f**king pigs, it's true.
The thing about a lot of people is, if they CAN get away with it, they WILL do it.
Thank God for a criminal justice system.
What they need are more attendants with flashlights, like there used to be.
When people feel like they are being watched, or will be shamed, they will behave.
It's really sad that many people really are like children when they think no one is looking.

This is why I rent dvd's and watch them in the comfort of my own house with my big tv and surround sound.
No one can ruin it that way and it's cheaper too.
I honestly do not see the appeal of movie theatres at all because most of the people there are inconsiderate pricks and it can be dangerous.

i konw! i was once in a movie theatre and half way through someone tipped sticky caramel popcorn all over me - it took ages to wash it out of my hair, and its just not pleasant walking through everyone's rubbish at the end as you leave the isle. Plus the rustlking annoys you when youre trying to watch, AND people always talk and its so distracting.
*deep breath*
ok, rant over.

Yeah, people ARE pigs in movie theaters. I have never worked in one, but I go to them quite often.
I guess they are just making up for the fact that they are not "allowed" to do that at home.

People are just more foul in general than they used to be. Women are a lot more classless, people are rude, nasty and disgusting, kids are disrespectful..America is just going down the tubes...so its no surprise that movie theaters are now being trashed, since people seem to be trashier.
