Nizoral, it's the over the counter strength of what my husband used to get a prescription for and it works just as well as the prescription. The doctor who prescribed it used it himself too. Be sure you leave it in for like 5+ minutes before rinsing. It also doesn't really smell like other dandruff shampoos.
Edit: I just noticed someone else said Nizoral but ours is in a big blue bottle... just be sure it's the stuff with ketoconazole when you buy it.

Matrix essentials has an anti dandruff shampoo that has a tar base. Real dandruff is rare, it is usually caused by product build up. I used to have a flaky scalp when I used grocery store brand shampoo and conditioners. Once I switched to salon brands the "Dandruff" magically went away. No special treatments necessary

Simple dandruff should respond well with Head and Shoulders and other over the counter shampoos with selenium. An old remedy was to rinse your scalp with plain Listerine. This worked for many. If this is unsuccessful, you may need a prescription medication. I hope you get what you need.

Selsun blue uses selinium, which is also supposed to be the active ingredient in head and shoulders, so if one won't work, neither will the other. there are TONS of dandruff shampoos, but maybe you're better off with a medicated shampoo from a drug store or something your doctor proscribes

Is it really dandruff or dry scalp. A lot of people get this now, this time of the year. Joico Treatment shampoo is very good. Great for dry scalp, alopecia, eczema etc... Its a professional line. If it is dandruff...Kenra dandruff shampoo, also Redken dandruff shampoo is good also.

The best is a new brand just coming out called Organix. Its got organic active ingredients and is sulfate free so it won't dry out your hair and craete dandruff...and the fragrances are amazing! You'll be able to get Organix over the next few weeks at Kroger, Target, Albertsons, Safeway, Duane Reade, etc. You'll love it!

Here's a remedy; first, put warm vegetable oil on your head, wrap
it with a head wrap. Wait one hour, then shampoo twice.
After the oil is totally out, wash with this shampoo called
Denorex, as directed on the bottle.

Nizoral. It's a shampoo in a little white bottle. It works really well, used it whenever I had problems and it went away within three washes.

i have the same problem but my doctor told me to do this. she said first to buy a special hair oil, not baby oil but something like that, then she said to leave it in for 5 min. then she said i have to keep brushing my hair till alot of the dandruff falls out, then take a shower. I do this weekly, and it works.

Go to the chemist and ask for Selsun. Take off any rings before you use it. It is really very good. (Even though it's a disgusting yellow colour!)
