in addition we changed and put a brand new distributor on it...and changed the mda sensor and we also put a new fuel filter on it...and now it's running better it still doesn't have any power...so i'm thinking it's either the plugs the wires or the fuel pump...how would i be able to tell if it's the fuel pump?...nissan usually do last a long time don't they? and also how will i know if' the fuel injector is the problem THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP I LOVE U GUYS!!!

Sorry one more thing in additions we took the spark plugs out to check b/c the mechanic stated..that there was a bad..fuel injector and bad intake gasket but we took it to another man who stated that it couldn't be the intake gasket b/c he sprayed starter fluid on the intake gasket and it didn't suck in..so he stated it's def. not the intake gasket...he said it might be the fuel injector but took the spark plugs out and they were getting spark...(power) so it seemed power were going to them..so i'm not sure....thanks again!

sounds like you bought a car that somebody else wanted to get rid of. The thing you can do is get it in the hands of a GOOD mechanic and get an estimate on what it's really going to take to fix it. It doesn't sound like an easy fix, like just swap out the fuel pump. I would guess that you have a more severe problem with the fuel system that is effecting the timing of the engine. I'd replace the fuel injectors, blow out the fuel lines and if that doesn't do it, take the top-end off and inspect the pistons for damage, debris in the cylinder, bad rings(oil burning, compression), bad head gasket, stuff like that.

Check for plugged catalytic converter. Any of the Auto parts store in your area have a computer to plug into to see what codes are showing? How did you diagnose the distributor. Something that does not go bad very often.

Check the exhaust back pressure - a plugged catalytic converter may cause this problem.

it sounds like u might have lost a cylinder. change the plugs and plug wires and see if that helps. if not change the distributer cap and roter button. it is a good idea to change those anyway so that u know they r good.

I'd rip your mechanic a new one for not checking the Cat. It is such an obvious problem.
