If you don't have one and hate them, good for you--keep your nasty comments to yourself. If you have one and regret it, you are among the 50 percent of people who have tattoos that feel the same.

As for getting a job, most tats can be covered with accessories and some clever outfits. You simply have to live according to the decision you made--whether you think it was a bad or good one.

For those who say they would never hire a person with tats, you may never know they have one. I have tats on my sternum, wrist and arms and I've worked in restaurants for 10 years where I was a trainer and supervisor.

Furthermore, I am now a reporter who comes highly recommended by my former supervisors even though they saw my tats.

Get off your high horses people. And for those who want a tat, be smart about it. I rushed into getting mine and am now looking into laser. It's forever.

Finally, people shouldn't judge you on adolescent or young adult whimsy.

why people are so passionate about tattoos is they have a tattoo to remember something that was life changing in their own lives or to remember a person whom has died or whom has affected there life in a great way. Why do people hate tattoos because it has been against God and religion in every way. Since the begging of time they have been known to represent the bad boys, some use it to show they are different then other people. They are very unprofessional when in the work force.

If you want a tattoo, then get one. If I don't like it, then that's my right - it's a free country. I won't discriminate against people with tats. I'm sure you are a competent nice person, and if you interviewed well, I would consider hiring you; however, I don't find women with tats attractive. Now that's just me, other people may find it very appealing. I can like the person, but dislike there tattoos.

I want a tat, but I can't get one because I have Lupus.
Before I got my diagnosis I was about to get one of a calendula and a rose on the back of my shoulder. Calendula is the flower of October and my grandmother was born in October. Rose is for June, my mother and grandfather.
Some people don't understand that tattoos are a form of art and can be very sentimental. Don't let them bother you.

Some people are passionate about tattoos because to them , it's art. Every tattoo they have is like a story to them. You could see someone with a cat tattoo and think "hmm he/she must love cats", but to them it could be a representative of something in their lives.
Others who are against tattoos just see tattoos as something that covers up their skin, ruins their "temples". I really dont know what they think, truly, but they have their own reasons.
Now, I never understood why if someone has a tattoo or piercing, they have to cover it up. I mean, if the tattoo was innapropriate I could see how you should, but if it's a tattoo of a heart or something innocent like that, there's no reason to cover it up.
Our society is just so focused on how others think, how they are represented. I think that is why some people are against tattoos (because it's so taboo or something) or you have to cover them up in the work field.

Wow...you sound bitter. What kind of tat haters have you been running into?

I agree with the sentiments, though. Wanting to decorate yourself doesn't make you a different/bad person, and you shouldn't be judged by it. Keep being true to you!

Wow, you are very passionate about tattoos yourself! :-) I think that people are passionate about them because they are a love/hate issue. You are either opposed to inking your body in any way or you love to! I have none, but have always thought about getting one. Many of my friends have one or more and I have actually designed one for my cousin that she now displays proudly on her leg. My husband has a couple on his back. Personally I LOVE tattoos! I think that they are creative and sexy. I just haven't decided yet for myself which design I would like to get.

What people do with their bodies are their business. I don't judge people who have tattoos. I think people use tattoos to stereotype. I know many people with tattoos and they are great people, and their tattoos fit them. I think people should stop worrying so much about other people's bodies and start worrying about their own.
