I want to convert two documents (one word and another powerpoint) into one pdf file. I have been able to convert each one into a separate pdf file but cannot convert into one file. is there a free adobe/other download that will allow me to convert the files into one pdf document?

Open Office has an export to pdf function. Whether you can merge the two into a single pdf file in a single process, I'm not sure. However you could insert the document file into the presentation and then export that to pdf.
You could probably do the same thing in MS Office, taking your word doc and inserting it into the PP presentation, then converting to pdf.

Download and install CutePDF Writer which is free of charge. It will add a virtual printer on your computer which allows you to "print" (read: save as) any document as a PDF file.

You would need to have Acrobat Writer to do this. The only other thing you could do is bring your Word files into PowerPoint and then export all into one.
