I feel like a bad mom to have him on the bottle past a year since my daughter when she was a baby was off of it at 10 months old

Alot of children have been on the bottle past a year old. The best way to decide if your child should remain on the bottel is to watch them. Keep trying to help them learn to drink from a straw or use the sippy cup. All children are different and if you push them when they are not ready, you could make it harder on yourslef and the child. I have 5 children and they all took to a cup at different stages. Just keep trying and be patient.

I don't see why he can't do the sippy cup thing they even have the sippy cups that have soft tips. Bottles are so bad for the babies overbite... what I did was just threw all the bottles away and you need patients for this because he will cry, but you keep trying to give him the cup and after a day or 2 he will know that's where the milk is and he will slowly except it but he can't see the bottles or he will never try

My daughter is three and still on the bottle. It is only at bedtime, but within the next month it will be going into the trash. My advice is first of all, don't freak out if he goes a little past a year. However, coming from a mom who is learning the hard way, get him off of it as soon as possible, the longer he is on the bottle the more difficult it will be to get him to give it up.

I think babies ought to be off a bottle at a year. Your baby is not going to switch to the sippy on his own, you have to make him. Start with one feeding a day, preferable when he is really hungry, either first thing in the morning or after the long afternoon nap, and offer him his usual formula in the sippy. Don't give him any options. If he's hungry he has to use it. I recommend taking the valve out for the first few sips and then quickly sticking it back in after he has gotten the idea that his milk is really in there. Also you might try motivating him to use the sippy by giving him juice in it first.

One year exactly does not have to mark the date to take him off the bottle but it is an estimated age. Try to start getting him used to the sippy cup little by little until it comes to the point that it takes the place of the bottle.

I actually have a 4-3 hundred and sixty 5 days-previous and had this challenge whilst he became approximately your infant's age. the respond is that i'm afraid you will only might desire to stop giving it to him. It won't do any good to attempt to alter a sippy, the wear and tear on your infant's tooth will nevertheless happen, and additionally you will only have yet another habit to interrupt. i comprehend that it seems impossible, particularly once you're exhausted, yet he will sleep finally. The trick is, do not supply in. it is going to basically make the approach greater complicated and drawn out. as a remember of certainty, i might use this as an excuse to fully supply up bottles. only tell him firmly "not greater bottles, your a huge boy." and then, stick to it. maximum heavily, shop on with your weapons! i'm talking from experience...it is going to happen. perhaps enlist your mom to help with the different young toddlers once you commence the approach so after he does finally doze off (and he will), you will get some relax too.

you're not a bad mom everyone adjusts to changes differently he will let you know when he is ready to toss the bottle....Have you tried those nuby sippy cups? they have a rubber/latex top on them (almost like a bottle) and sometimes its easier to transition them that way instead of going from the soft rubber to a hard plastic.........but other than that he will give it up when he's ready my little cousin didn't give his up until he was about 2 -2 1/2 maybe.....you could also just start taking it away during the day and only give it to him at bed-time but soon he will forget all about it.......Happy New Years!!!

my 16 mo old son is refusing the sippy cup completely!!!!! it is really bothering but everybody says to do it at his time not mine!! i push the sippy cup but i still give him 5 bottles a day. i think it is harder for him to get the liquid out of the sippy cup (more sucking power needed) so he just goes to the bottle cuz it is easier and faster. by 2 i am promising myself no more bottle!!!

Do not feel bad first of all. My son actually was not fully weaned until about 14 months of age. We took them away one by one during the day with the nighttime and first of the morning last. He will learn to use sippy cup soon.
