Dont just pay the ticket, goto court and plea no contest. Its not admitting guilt, and the judge will likley find you guilty anyway.

You need to pay the fine for speeding get the car fixed. If you use the excuse that the speedometer was not working, the judge will have a good life and you will probably get another citation!

You are responsible for operating your vehicle within the laws set by the jurisdiction in which you are driving. The fact that you failed to maintain your own equipment does not excuse you from following the law.

Pay the ticket.

You are responsible for having your automobile in good working order. Having a broken speedometer is not good working order.

it is no excuse especially if you knew it was broken and had been broken for awhile and you didn't get it fixed it's on you. if it broke while on that trip they may let you off.
