First of all, you can not make yourself go to sleep. The harder you try to do this, the more awake will happen! I also have problems with sleep, about like what you described. I have found if I don't take that nap at noon and sleeping that long, will help. If I take a nap at noon, only sleep one-two hours and no more! Set an alarm clock and make it a loud one, but sit it in another room so you HAVE to get up to shut it off, and don't lay back down for just a second. Get a cup of coffee or something that will wake you up.
Then go to bed around 10-12 at night, and I pretty much can guarantee you will sleep. Also drink Sleepy Time tea, take one asprin, and a hot shower works for me.
I have found the nap is what I need to shorten. Also, my husband says not to eat any thing after 7:00 PM, as eating after that gives your body the message it is time to wake up.

You might be have to not go to bed and just be tired the next day you will go to bed at 11 or 12. Or you could take some sleep aids. I would take simply sleep you can get it at Walgreen's.

Thats going to be pretty hard to fix. Try to just stay up and go to work, then when you get home you will be tired and will get a good nights sleep.
