Please adopt! There are so many homeless Rottweilers. If you are going to a breeder go to the local Rottweiler member club and ask for a breeder referal. Please avoivd pet stores

Avoid backyard breeders because they cause so many to end up in shelters.

If you're interested in a Rottweiler, be careful. Do not just buy a puppy from some shady breeder or someone that doesn not appear professional. Look for an established breeder. You live in Toronto, so there should be lots of dog shows there, try and attend one, there are always breeders there. Find one that breeds Rottis! You have to be very careful, because these dogs need to be socialized well and should not come from people who appear strange.

www.rottclub.ca should have a list of breeders you can research.

most breeders are in rural ontario and not in the city- obviously, they have farm land suitable for raising lots of dogs. but you can probably arrange for your dog to be shipped to you if you don't have a car.

i reccommend you buy from a reputable breeder- especially for a rottweiler so you can be sure it will have a good temperment. if you can't visit the kennel, ask the breeder if they can give you references of people who have adopted their puppies.

getting a rescued dog is a good deed but you don't know the dog's background- many rescued dogs have temperment and/or obedience issues and require owners who have the time, patience, and experience to work with them.

keep researching. research the breeder the most. a reputable breeder will screen for health and temperment problems that you have already learned about in your reading. i commend you for doing that. not many people are as wise as you so a big thumbs up for you!!!! also do not get a pup from a breeder that you cannot see where the pups were raised and at least one parent. and make sure you are ready with crate, toys, leash, collar and premium food for a large breed pup. have a trainer in mind that you are going to take the pup to when old enough. have a vet in mind that you are going to take your pup to. listen to your vet and get vaccinations as reccomended. rott pups are very very prone to parvo. and have a schedule in mind and ready to start as soon as puppy gets home. i'm sorry i can't help you find a breeder in your area. you sound like a rare intelligent owner that knows and is prepared for a dog. i really do wish i could help you.
