We LOOOOVE stuffed mushrooms but they are so darn putzy to make. Any one know of a similar casserole or an idea how to convert it?

i would think that you could slice the mushrooms then add a little melted butter. put them in the casserole dish then top them with the stuffing mix. it should work but i would watch them carefully as they might cook a little faster.

The person that answered about slicing (or using sliced mushrooms) and then putting the stuffing mix - however you would stuff it - on top in a casserole dish is one very good idea.

The other one is to take the concept and actually use larger mushrooms as well -- portobellos or porcini's. Sometimes with things like your favorites, it makes sense to take a lot of it and freeze some of it. It should freeze OK I think if wrapped and stored properly .

ddont think that would work cause all the stuffing would fall out when it mixed with the soup from the casserole
