Apparently there has been no surge in violence. In fact the Iraqi people seemed to view his hanging as a cause for celebration.
I take it you have not been following the news?

Iraqi Sunnis will be but Iraqi Shittes and Kurds won't be - at least not for hanging Saddam

The Sunnis might, but that's just the normal gang violence you see there every day. The Kurds will be pretty pissed because he was hanged before he could be tried for what he did to them.

We didnt hang him the Iraqis did. Not that it matters. They dont all hate the Americans. The insurgents promised more attacks but as they are already attacking and suicide bombers and car bombs how much worse can it get.

They already hate us -- so whatever. The US did the world a favour by capturing Saddam. The Iraqis were the ones that hung him. They hung their own. Let them get mad at themselves.
