Put up posters that say " Found Kitten" Put a photo of the cat, and a description along with your phone number, and hang them up all over your town. Also check the newspaper to see if anyone is missing a cat. After 6 weeks, Either keep the cat or Give it away yourself. DO NOT GIVE THE CAT TO ANIMAL CONTROL / THE POUND. The pound/ animal control will kill the cat if it doesn't get adopted.

Usually the phone book will have a listing for Animall Welfare or Animal Rescue. If not try your local vet or pet shop for info. The SPCA is probably overcrowded like most. Try and find a no-kill shelter. Go online to craigslist.classified and advertise for your area for free.

Take the kitten into your nearest pet shelter, if there is no health problems with it they will put it up for adoption. They never destroy a animal unless it is really necessary.
