It's the poor dogs i feel sorry for. Takle my Staffie for example. I never ave er on er lead because she stays right by my side although i always have er lead with me. When some people walk by they look at er as if she's some kind of beast n all she wants to do is say hello and maybe get a stroke. I have to call er away and she finks she's done something wrong I do understand in a way but the bad press they are gettin lately is giving my dog a complex! She's sucha softie. It's the bad owners - NOT the poor dog.

People dont study thing that don't apply to them, so that why they don't know. Example people who is disable and under American Disablitiy acts have rights to have serivce dog etc. People who are not disable or under ada do not study about it because it doesn't apply to them. People who don't own dog or doesnt like dogs don't study because it doesn't apply to them etc. I hope this make sense. Also if you want to sterotype the breed. Then all dogs all breed should be banned, put to sleep. As any dogs regardless what breed can attack people, they are predator and came from wolves. I heard chichuaua attack a person, a lab attack a person, a whatever breed attack a person, then banned all those breeds so none of us own dogs. Well sorry it won't happen, there too many of us including me loves animals and loves dogs, could not live out in the world without them.

It's not just pitbulls people have a go about. If that dog that killed that young girl had been a Rottweiler then it wud av been the "DEVIL DOGS" plastered all of the media like it was a few months back when 2 rotties killed that baby. A couple of days after that happened I went to my local supermarket and outside a man had tied his rottie while he went in. Three old biddies waited for him to come out and told him that he should be ashamed of himself for having a dog like that. The dog was doing nothing wrong. It just sat there waiting for the man to come back out. It wasn't barking or bothering anyone passing by. I went over and gave them a mouthful and the man thanked me for being on his side.

People in this country(UK) are like sheep, they just follow the crowd and just believe wot's in the media. The goverment shud make it harder to own a dog. That way only responsible dog owners wud be able to keep a dog. It's all to easy to buy a dog. In the wrong hands any dog can be made to attack. We have to have to have a licence to drive a car or to own a gun. Any dog that is not going to be breed shud be castrated or neutered to keep down all the unwanted animals that are produced each year. Plus castrated dogs tend to be a lot calmer and it's better for their health.

people in general do not know the different in their bulls if they see a big blocky head a muscular body they lump it together as a pitbull the breeds most commonly lumped together are apbt ,staffie, bull terrier, bull dog all of these breeds which were used to fight dogs it is not their fault it is again the fault of the media the news loves to work on people fears and they love a story that can scare people because that is what makes news so a dog attack is pretty scary but when you say a pitbull attack these animals are all over every community and people see them and and remembered what they heard on the news and they discriminate all your bully breeds so you can thank your news for what they have created

Pits are sweet dogs that are abused by bad people. They are kept starved and beaten. No wonder some flip out. The pits that I work with (that have been treated somewhat like a normal dog) are some of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. Less aggressive than a Rotweiler for sure. The uneducated / ignorant public hears "pit bull" and the stereotype instincts kick in. They then lable anything "pit", "bull", and "pit bull" bad.

Because most people wouldn't know a pit bull if it bit them in the butt. Pitbull is an adjective, unless you are fully referring to an American Pitbull Terrier. Otherwise, most people can't tell the difference between a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier, American Bulldog, American Staffordshire Terrier, Cane Corso, Dog Argentino, Bull Mastiff....etc.

Here's fun game, find the pitbull:

You have answered your own question there.

These people are uneducated. Every few years a breed of dog will be labelled as 'dangerous'.

I remember when Rottweilers were classed as dangerous.

Personally, I believe the owners are the dangerous ones in all of these cases. The stereotypical image of a Staffy owner is a Burberry baseball cap, lots of gold and a very limited IQ and vocabulary.

Say no more............

The general public stereotypes all bully breed types as "pitts". Because "pitts" attract some crappy owners and breeders...there are some crappy "pitts". When a "pitt" does attack, the damage is more significant because of the size and power. The press eats this up, and BSL takes off. The decent owners have to fight so hard against BSL, that they can get defensive and jump at the chance to blame a different breed.

BSL is huge. The "pitts" have it the worst right now, but 20 years ago it was German Shepherds/Dobermans.

Well pit bulls aren't a breed but a term to describe several breeds of dogs. So when pointing to a bully breed they can be correct in calling it a pit bull. Pit bulls have a bad rep because of how media portrays them when in fact the people to blame are the owners and breeders.

Prayer of a Pit bull
Spirit in the sky, who watches over all animals:
It is my prayer and my request that you grant greater understanding,
and acceptance to humans;
those who love us, and those who hate us.
That they will know how loyal we are, how brave we are,
and how loving we are. Help them to accept us as a breed in whole, and not let the few tragedies shine brighter than the many great traits that we have. And those who would kill me,
let them know, I forgive them, even though I don't understand their hatred. And those who would beat me, let them know I still love them, even though it is not the honorable way.
Thank you for all the strong traits that you have given to me,
and my breed. Help those to know that I stand for
courage, strength, loyalty, and bravery.
And as my master already knows, let those who would come against my family know that I would surely die defending them.
And just one last thing that I would ask:
Let my master know, that if you should call me away,
that I will wait patiently at those pearly gates
until the one who chose me,
comes home.
Amen.
