I had a blood test done and it came up positive ANA. Can someone tell me what that means? Military Dr.s don't give me very good answers. Still not understanding it, I guess.

As mentioned by the earlier post ANA is a marker for Auto-immune disorders.Where the body attacks itself.

I had a positive ANA test. Further testing and symptom classification made the doctors decide I had Lupus (an auto-immune disorder). Over the past 5 years I have removed all foods that cause any allergic or inflammatory responses. For me that is any soy, chicken or chicken eggs, MSG, citrus and strawberries. I also added supplements that help decrease inflammation and joint pain. I have also used an acupuncturist to help with symptoms that have been of changing severity and type. The end result is that after 5 years my ANA has decreased to negative and all the Lupus symptoms have evaporated.

Good luck. Ask lots of questions and do lots of research on your own. Some doctors just want to label you and treat you like a cog in a big machine.
