Whatever appeals to you is the best food to eat . . at that point it is all about calories.
My son though always had a craving for home made rolls with real butter. But, basically while on chemo he doesn't eat much . . he makes up for lack of appetite during his 'time off' period (three weeks between chemo sessions).

I was just told a hour ago. My neck is full of bad nodes, I haven't felt well for a few months now, I felt a change in my body. Last November I had my 9th spine surgery, I have A Fib, Tinnitus, Arthritis, Pain 24/7. I'm 56, dealt with 19 surgeries, raised my children, single father...Pain, surgeries, became part of my life. I dealt with it since I was 18.. Now, I'm tired, I have used those words before, usually just to express, Dad hurts, give me a break..I don't think I have the energy to fight this. I'm not sure if the symptoms of Lymphoma, are making me feel this way, exhausted with life. Or if I'm telling myself, Kids are raised did my job, I have been a good person, every day pain, why bother.... I don't believe in a after life. I live for here and now. I still golf when I can, I hunt, when I can. Lately I don't have the energy to go out in the evenings, Socialize, I always enjoyed a night at the casino, I haven't visited family all summer, 30 mile drive. The norm, for me doesn't exist. I need someone to take care of, That's what always kept me going, Now, I don't have that obligation. Anyone have advice, basic question, has this cancer, made me feel this way. If I can get better, will I be back to some semblance of my norm. Sorry for anyone suffering, I have lost most of my family from every kind of cancer you can name, I beat Melanoma 3 times as well.

I've had some experience with this. One thing that happens with many people on chemo is that they loose their appetite. So you'll find that most doc's will tell you whatever you want to eat, eat it. This is true. What you want to prevent is too much weight lose because this will leave the person weak in a situation where they need to stay strong. My aunt wanted only watermelon when she went through it. Turns out the electrolytes in the watermelon helped her keep her own electrolytes up, my other aunt had chocolate cravings, turns out her magnesium levels were seriously low so since choc has magnesium in it, it worked out fine. Your body will tell you what it needs. You just have to listen. If your appetite hasn't been supressed then you might want to get as much protein in as possible, meats and cheese. This will boost your base line and provide you with some good energy. Fruits and veggies will provide needed antioxidents, and complex carbs more immediate energy source. Good luck to you.

Go to a health food store and get the person on a multivitamin shake. Many people under going chemo, lose there appetite.Chemo patients, may not get there iron and antioxidants(which they need for there red blood cell count)because they are not eating. My friend took a multivitamin shake called "women's live well formula" available at gnc stores. It tasted like a strawberry milkshake and she got her nutrients in her system.

I actually ate like crazy, due to the Prednisone. Basically, eat whatever you can tolerate.
