For starters, one need not actually be a good person or do good works: they only need ask Jesus for forgiveness. That's not exactly a great motivator.
Plus, the whole "end of the world is coming" belief doesn't exactly support forward thinking. Why plan for 50 years in the future if the world will have ended by then?
Also, probably my biggest pet peeve, the Christian religion, like many faiths, prides faith (i.e., ignorance) over knowledge. It is more virtuous to blindly accept the tenets written in the Bible than to question them, even if you end up at the same answer.

Yes, I used to drive past a church that had its sermon topic for the week on a sign at the road. Once it read: "Those who soar like an eagle risk a long drop"

Generally no!!!
Christianity preaches hard work and inspiring people by doing everything with the view that you are representing God. Laziness is heavily discouraged.

yes. even the fact that religion makes u have blind faith, doesnt allow for analyzing or logical thinkin, this reduces the use of your brain, which will make u less intelligent.
