I've heard of people putting bits off eggshell in with their coffee grounds and allowing the coffee to brew that way.

The shells stay in the filter and aren't eaten, though. And I'm not sure how they are supposed to help the coffee's flavor.

The egg's shell is the number one source of salmonella contamination in eggs, and it why you should be careful cracking eggs so as not to get shells into the stuff inside.

Remember that the shell is the only thing protecting the egg from the chicken crap and internal fluids and stuff that could carry who knows what kinds of germs.

I wouldn't eat them on a dare...

Negative. Although their are some egg shells that can be eaten because they are softer, the chicken egg is not one of those. The shell is too thick which means the pieces can act as tiny slicing devices going down you throat.
