My small chihuahua, the puppy that we kept, is now 11 weeks and weighs 1.50 lbs. I checked a weight chart and it said that as an adult, she will be 3.50 lbs.

Her mother is 9 lbs, and her father is 6 lbs. Is it that the puppy is skinny (because she loves running and playing outside) or is she really going to be that tiny?

I know that size shouldn't matter, but I want to know
^^
It will be great if she stays that tiny.

Oh there is NO way I can breed her now
o_O

I was thinking about only breeding her if she was 4 1/2 - 6 lbs. But if she's so tiny then what's the point?
XD

Yes I would say your puppy is doing just fine. :o) I type this while my Chihuahua is sitting on my lap! Her name is Dory. The mom of your puppy is quite large, the father is normal range. Chi's are normally anywhere from 2-6 pounds. Have a blast spoiling and loving your new puppy!

The charts are probably right. She will probably weigh about 3-3 1/2 lb grown. I have a pup now that will probably not be over 2 lb and she is healthy as can be. I sold a pup last year that weighed 1 lb at 4 1/2 mo. She is now less than 2 lb. Please don't breed your tiny little girl. She is too small..

I have a chihuahua just like that. Mom and Dad were around that size. When I got her I took her to the vet and she weigh only 12 oz. when she was around 9 weeks old. She begin to really grow when she was 5 months old. Now she weighs 6 lbs. and mean as a pitbull ha,ha.

Some Chihuahua are small, Since she is very active she will burn off more then you are feeding her. At 11 weeks have you taken her in for her shots, if so then ask your vet, they will be able to tell if she is healthy or not. Just because mom and dad where over weight doesn't mean the pups will.

It is possible that she is going to be that tiny. Some Chihuahuas are very tiny. Just love your baby. Give her quality food. Keep her warm in the winter (a sweater might help when she is outside). You can discuss with your vet if the pup is "too skinny" when you go.

If those are the sizes of her parents, then the chances that she is going to be as small as you'd like are pretty unlikely. My chihuahuas parents are 3lbs. and 6 lbs. and my dog is 17 months old and he weights 5.4 lbs. You're dog will probably plump up around 8-ish months.

It is not necessarily true that your pup will 3.5 pounds full grown, based on the fact that at 11 weeks of age only weights 1.5 pound.
My male puppy, well, not so much of a puppy anymore as he'll be a 1 year old on the 26 of February, only weighted 1.8 pounds at 14 weeks of age. He now weights 6.12 pounds.

She is still a pup. Give it about a year. Its just like kids...they may be small to start but eventually they will get a growth spurt. EX: My brother in law was short as a little kid. they thought he would never grow. Now, he is 15 years old and 6'5'' Dogs are the same way, give her time.

If she stays that weight for a little longer, I recommend you take her to a vet. I have a spaniel, and we got her when she was underweight. She later on had health problems ect. She's fine now, but we had a $500 dollar vet bill because of her weight and how sick she got easily.

It is possible that she is just going to be small... My male basset hound has always been about 15 lbs smaller that his sisters (males are supossed to be larger) He is more active and though he eats he is still small. Consult you vet.
