Many reasons - the anticlimax of Christmas, accumulation of debts, being bored because you're on holiday, being fed up because you're back at work and other people are still on holiday, no change from the old year and nothing yet to look forward to in the new year................. and its the same every year!

I think it is associated with (SAD)Seasonal Affective Disorder.
It onsets during early winter mostly in women and can affect *sleep*diet/eating habits*sex drive*withdrawl*depression*
this happens due to lack of sunlight in the winter months and after all the festivities of the holidays the sense of reality sinks in and were left in the dark. try a tanning bed once a week for 10 mins. it might just help. ultraviolet rays (might just brighten your life a bit) or higher wattage bulbs around the house.

There are several reasons people may feel down in the new year.It all depends on what is going on in their life.For some people the new year brings hope and new experiences and for some the new year bring's them uncertainty and possible changes.good luck to you in this new year

because it is saying goodbye to something you are use to. Like saying goodbye to a friend. It is normal. Almost everyone gets it. Plus the unknown of what the New Year will bring.

because you spend so much time preparing for Christmas which is hectic most of the time, then wait for the new year which you have no idea what it's going to be like except your debts, which you spend the rest of the year paying off

it feels like another year has gone past and my life is no better... causes me depression really badly, and my birthday does...2007 just like 2001 only im older and i know it wont get any better.
