I want to know socially/religiously (i am christian)/ and personally:
even though 99% of male teens do it, is masturbation wrong? Also, does it constitute loosing your virginity? A priest I know well said no to both of these, but what are some opinions out there? How about the ladies? I plan on keeping my virginity until marriage, but does masturbation couteract this for you?
No dumb answers.

No I have never done it in public and no I am not addicted. It is not a "neccisary" part of my life.

wow that's a tough question.....
the Bible doesn't directly speak to the subject of masturbation, but there are several things that tie into the principle of it.
Genesis Chap 38 speaks to the subject of a man named Onan. his brother has died and it was common place for the brother, if unmarried, to step up and take the place of theother brother who died. Thus keeping the family line going. Onan knew though that the children would not technically be his but his brother's and for some selfish reason allows his semen to fall to the ground, pulling out to soon during the act of sex.
When we masturbate we are in essence wasting our semen and not using it for the reason God gave it to us.
When we masturbate we are engaging in sexual activity with ourselves and leaving out the other person, our spouse and being selfish for ourselves. The Apostle Paul speaks to to this indirectly in the 1st letter to the Corinthians Chap 3, "do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit?"
and in Chap 6 v.18
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
WE should treat our body's with respect and love. "Treat other the way You want to be treated."
we have to treat ourselves with love and respect as well as treating others that way.
it's a hard temptation to stay away from
especially if you have created a habit of doing it
Butthe Lord can help and deliver us
just turn to him and learn to depend on His Love and Grace
1 Corinthians 10:13
13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
Hope that helps some

In public - yes, quite wrong. In private, no. The male body will 'release' whether you want it to or not - that's how you know you can procreate.
On the Virginity aspect, your Priest friend is quite correct.
On the 'save it for the wedding night' element - that's a terrible way to find out you and your new spouse are incompatible in the bedroom, and from experience - not just my own but friends as well - chance of getting laid by your wife on the first night is ALMOST zero - food, wine, nervous release, dancing etc etc all make for a pretty exhausted Bride...just a thought.....

Masturbation as an event is not wrong. Masturbation as a way of life could be, however. Especially if you keep getting kicked out of restaurants or movie theaters.
Masturbation is certainly not the same as losing your virginity! It's not like you actually have a physical thing called "virginity" that gets lost when you have sex, it's just a figure of speech, but it specifically means physical intercourse. It's a completely different experience than sex, anyways. Now whether or not anal sex or even oral sex makes one a non-virgin or not would be an interesting discussion.

No, masturbating does not constitute losing your virginity. The Bible makes some disapproving noises about male masturbation, but is totally silent on the subject of female masturbation. Just avoid spilling your seed on the ground (use a sock or something) and you'll be fine.

Well i believe it is a sin. I know most teens do it its only natural. But by the way i see it in the bible Mathew 5 or 6 states that if you look at a women lustfuly then you have commited adultry with that women in your heart. Since adultry is a sin, and imagining having sex with that women and engaging in self-sexual gratification like masturbating would be a sin. Thats what i thnk. But if you ask atheists they will say no since they dont believe

First of all, I'm glad your planning to keep your virginity until marriage. That's great! But, hate to break it to you, but masturbation IS wrong. It will get addicting-you would feel as though you need it all the time. I know you've started, but please try to stop now.

i think th 1% who say they don't either physically can't or are lying. no, it isn't wrong. the bible reference talking about Onan and his dead brother's wife has little to do with masturbation. what the despicable sin was was that Onan purposely avoided getting the woman pregnant. CONTEXT CLUES christians, i know you hate them. notice also that god kills Onan. for not getting his dead brother's wife pregnant. you do realize that you pray to this same god for love and peace and affection. does that sound a bit odd to you?
it's not a bad thing to do, not a sin... remember, even jesus must have woke up with morning wood from time to time.

Whether or not it is "wrong" is something that you must wrestle with in accordance with the depth of your spiritual beliefs.
It is certainly not unhealthy, weird, or any other negative thing.
And you do not lose your "virginity" until you have sex with a woman.

Masturbate all you want. It's cool. And it won't count against your virginity.
And girls masturbate.
On the other hand, you don't "have to" masturbate. Nothing particularly bad will happen.

Masturbation is wrong. You'll go blind and grow hair on your palms. You'll become addicted to it, and then turn into a child molestor when women can't satisfy you.
Also, it's icky-poo and weird and only looooooosers do it.
My advice to you is when you feel the urge, sit in a bathtub full of ice water and hit yourself in the face with a Bible until it goes away.
