When I make chocolate chip cookies, I follow the recipe on the back of the Nestle toll house morsels bag. If you want soft cookies cook them for the lesser time, and let cool.

Hi !!
Here is one of the recipes that I like to use:

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

You can use any flavor pudding you like for this recipe."

Original recipe yield:
6 dozen

PREP TIME 15 Min
COOK TIME 12 Min
READY IN 1 Hr 40 Min

4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups butter, softened
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 (3.4 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups chopped walnuts (optional)

DIRECTIONS

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat in the instant pudding mix until blended. Stir in the eggs and vanilla. Blend in the flour mixture. Finally, stir in the chocolate chips and nuts. Drop cookies by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Edges should be golden brown.

look on the back of the bag of nestle chocolate chips. that recipe has never failed me. just check on the cookies every couple of minutes and take them out when the edges of the cookie are golden. then they will be nice and soft.

where it says to use butter in the recipe you have, use crisco instead, that will make them stay soft.
