Hello all,

Just wanted to give update on my mother case. She's now able to drink water and vegetable juice. She takes almost 1/2 litre liquid orally now. We're indeed very happy. The only problem remains is speaking continuously in the night (only) and bit of slowness in activity. She is still in feeding tube and we give her ativan tablet for sleeping - as prescribed by Dr. Thanks for all your support. Your invaluable suggestion were very helpful. Do suggest me if I can do something more to bring her back on her fit.

Hi Irene,

Yes, It's me who is taking care of my mom. I think your point is right. Drs. said I can give anything I want but that confuses me. Because, my mom got stroke due to hypertension and her BP still fluctuates. She is diabitic also. I always wonder what will be the best food for her. Presently, we're giving cow milk, rice pudding and vegetable juice.

If you are the one taking care of her, her diet is very important, as well as getting some exercise, even if it is only walking across the floor to the other wall. When my husband had his stroke/open heart surgery, they had him in and out of bed within 48 hours. Even though he had to take pain medication to get out of bed, it was still very important for him to move around. He also just started with sitting up for 15 min., then progressing to a half an hour, then to an hour, then walking. But the sitting was because of the surgery. I don't know if your Mom had surgery or not, other than for the feeding tube.
