What does your mom make?

What does/did your mom make, when you were at home ... and you often crave for ... but, when you try to make it, or buy it ... it just doesn't taste the same as your mom's?

My mom makes the best potatoe salad EVER ... no matter how hard I try ... it just doesn't taste the same as hers. *sob*

NOTHING!!! All she does is eat TV dinners. I don't understand it, she used to cook now all of a sudden, she's being lazy and selfish. My Dad cooks but at his home. I love going over to my dad's he's a chef and we cook all The time.

Out of all the things my Dad has made for the family, I like his Chicken Breast Salad. It's not a salad it's kind of like Tuna Fish Sandwiches instead, it's Chicken Breast. I remember on the 4th of July, I tried making it for the BBQ and so when everyone tasted it, they were like, "What did you put in this?" turns out, I added too much celery, eggs and sugar. But everyone ate it. But no one in the family can make it like my dad can.

Salmon loaf. She could make it from memory. She's gone now, and no recipe has come close.

Same thing with my grandma. She made this chicken/spaghetti/casserole thing in a red sauce with green olives. I found something similar, but it's just Not The Same. Same with her bread. Only one person in the family knows how to make it anymore, and she eyeballs the measurements and can't write it down.

I hate lost recipes.

Home made ravioli. She made the dough from scratch and everything... but I am way too lazy to do that. And I don't have a pasta machine! Now she's older and just doesn't do that stuff anymore. The Italian restaraunts don't make good stuff anymore, it's all frozen :(

Meatballs....she don't measure anything and I can never get it to taste exactly how she makes them....and her breading on her fried chicken...it's the best and I don't know how she does it....everyone loves my mom's chicken.

I asked her to make me a receipe book, but like I said she don't measure anything and she only goes by taste......really sucks trying to get it the way she does....

my mom makes the worlds best chicken %$&# well not litterly s-h-i-t but that's what i called one day when i was bitchy and pregnant with the worst craving and the name kina stuck. i guess it's a cassarole chicken, home made stuffing, sour cream, cream of chicken soup...i keep trying to make it, but it's never anywhere as good =0(
