If you do not believe in God why bother? People of faith know you exist and what your opinion and beliefs of religion are so why use their question as a forum to offend them?

It would appear that they think they know it all and are in some way superior - arrogance and pride.

They are clearly full of themselves and think a lot of themselves to force themselves and intrude - self centred and self loving.

They have no evidence for their views - bigotry and small mindedness.

They ridicule and dismiss as fairy tales and say faith requires no brain while showing an unbelievable ignorance of what the dismiss and a refusal to accept evidence beyond reasonable doubt whilst holding fast to a flawed theory, impossible to prove and requiring massive leaps of blind faith and assumption - judgemental and foolish.

They live their lives by their own standards - extreme self righteousness.

They squeal that they don't want religion stuffed down their throats all day but are glued to the Religion and Spirituality section all day - dishonest and churlish.

They claim they can live good lives without God and do good to others but very often are insensitive and rude and offensive in their contributions - hypocrisy.

OOOhh ! I had better stop.

I've just described the very qualities they criticise and claim to despise in people of faith ! ! !

Jokes aside, there are some who don't fit into this category.

I have no problem with anyone offering answers in here. I only question the lack of sincerity with which some answer. This can't but help make me wonder if they arrived at their own world view with the same lack of sincerity. Disagreement and strong disagreement is fine its just counter productive to come and just insult people and think you are going to have any meaningful dialogue. When you call people stupid what do you really hope to accomplish? This applies to some on the Faith side issues as well.

I would say the basic reason they do it is lack of respect for the opinions and/or belief systems of others.

I think it's every persons right to believe (or not believe) what they choose to. But, there are people who feel the need to slam the beliefs of people whose beliefs differ from their own, which I think is very immature. In the case of atheists, some aren't content with their personal belief that God doesn't exist - they seem to feel the need to convince as many people as they can of the same.

There are also people who just seem to get off on offending others. If that's what floats their boat, Answers is certainly a safe and convenient forum to do that.

One of the things I've really had to learn to do on Answers is to learn to weed through the crap. It's infortunate. Thankfully though, I think there's more positive and quality information and viewpoints posted on Answers than the negative.

Revenge is Sweet is probably right. Many atheists have some type of history with religion. Whether it be bitterness towards a bad experience with the church or overall unhappiness where religion didn't help them, some people tend to hold a grudge. Using a forum like this gives them the chance to lash out in a way that society never has allowed them to do before. I have no ill will against those freely expressing themselves in a manner that may seem rude to some. For them it may be very therapeutic. You will just have to accept it and remember that free speech comes with its uncomfortable side as well.

All atheists know in their heart that they are wrong.
God says that everyone will be without excuse on judgement day. God's existence is known to us all through Creation and through our conscience.

To get over this some of them lash out against God in any way they can, as if to demonstrate that they must be right because God isn't doing anything back.

The playground mentality on YA can be annoying. If you want serious answers then you need a different forum. E.g. a Christian forum for Christian answers.

The best place I know for getting Christian answers is
//www.answersingenesis.org

(Atheists hate this site - it undermines their religion with scientific and philosophical rigour :) )

I usually do not but most of the time the 'questions' here are not real questions. Those that ask a point of doctrine I leave to those who might know better than I. If some numb nut starts going on about evolution well then the gloves come off.

I'm with you. I'm sick of seeing rude and ill-informed answers from Atheists to questions from people genuinely seeking to broaden their knowledge. I wish they'd stick to Car Maintenance or whatever it is they actually know about.

They see themselves as somehow superior. Can't they see that people with a faith could be like them? That would be the easy option, to give up on faith. But we have something they don't have, and they don't like it, so they do it down. We want to expand our knowledge, to find the truth, our own path to the Infinite. Not to sit back and tell everyone that we are the infinite.

I think they're trying to antagonise people with faith. I feel sorry for them as they have not learnt what it is to be loved by God. God is absolutely amazing and I wouldn't be surprised if God used these people to His advantage. Before they answer any question on religion and faith they should research first and I don't just mean the Bible. I think they should all go on an Alpha course and if they still feel the same afterwards, then they are lost souls. God approaches EVERYONE and offers salvation but it is OUR responsibility to answer. Beware all you atheists he won't ask forever. I pray for you all to come to Christ before Judgement. Know life not death.

God Bless

Personally, i don't, unless the religious person is saying something like 'evolution is so obviously incorrect, with the bible's evidence why don't people see that evolution is so clearly flawed?' then i will state my own opinion.
in my experience, it's the religious fanatics that are the ones who jump to answer a question that in any way doubts or questions what they believe.

I don't. If the question is not directed at me, I don't reply. It has been my experience that the religious fanatics are the ones who are ready to jump upon you and pull out your heart if you ask a question that in any way disapproves/or questioned their religious beliefs.
