She has never complained of a headache before and for the last 4 days she had headaches. She says it hurts on the top and back of her head. Should I bring her to the emergency room or is this common? I have tried finding more information on the internet but everything says that it could be common. I have been giving her Motrin but it doesn't get rid of the headache completely, any ideas on what else might work?

I brought my daughter to the er last night because she got a fever. And her mouth got sore. Turns out she has an infection from her loose tooth. The doctor put her on an antibiotic and we went to the dentist today and he said she will be fine after the antibiotic. Has anyone ever heard of this happening before? It's a first for me.

Headaches can have many root causes. My first thought when I read this was that she may need glasses. When I first needed glasses I had headaches. (I also get them when I need to change my prescription.)
A cold clothe on her forehead, a dark, quiet room, no tv, no computer... these things could help for now. As soon as possible, take her in to see your pediatrician just to get everything checked out. If it were my daughter and she was having headaches that medication didn't seem to take care of, I would keep her out of school tomorrow and take her to see the doctor as early as possible.
Good luck and I hope your little one feels better soon!

There is a bug going around in the uk that gives you a headache and pain killers dont get rid of it, it can last several days. I would take her to see a Dr, it usually tells you on the medication that if a headache persists it should be checked out. At least it will put your mind at rest to know what is going on..
It could also be eyestrain, have her eyes tested and make sure she doesn't need glasses.

I'd get her to a doctor right away...better safe than sorry. It could be a signal of something going wrong within her body. I'll not share any specific illness that it may or may not be so as not to worry you. Yet, do get her in front of a medical professional. If it turns out to be nothing and you might feel " embarrassed " ? Fine. Yet better safe than sorry............. After posting this I read Hillaryfo's answer and I also had very bad headaches and it turned out to be meningitis, I called my doctor because I thought my very unusual severe headache was from the flu and he made the discovery of my having more serious illness.
Not to worry...just responsibly check it out.

Migraleve is good for treating headaches, also it will prevent nausea, you can buy it from most pharmacists without prescription. E.g Boots Does she feel sick after these headaches, if not and its just a dull throbbing pain it could just be a tension headache. But anyway my advise would be to try some migraleve, it's much better than ordinary paraceatmol e.g nurofen

You know I have a 7 year old be 8 very soon and he is like a little adult I think we have changed the lives of children we have them learning more at a younger age than we did when I was growing up and there for you have to talk to them in a understanding voice but remember that they are only 5-7 they are listening one minute and going a diffent direction the next. And it depends on the mentallity of the child my child is very smart for is age and is a grade ahead in reading and wwriting and computer skills but i have a 5 years old in the family who still acts like he is 3-4 years does not listen and you have to tell him numerous times do it is basically the childs mentality and his skills on th eway you talk and commuicate with him. Hope this helps

I think you should take her to the doctor. It may not be anything, though in a 6 year old I think a headache is really uncommon. I had spinal meningitis at 16 and it started with a headache.....better to be safe than sorry.

Get her eyes checked, its the most common reason for young children to have headaches. However if her neck starts to hurt and she has a hard time moving it then go straight To ER. Try giving Motrin one time and Tylenol the next it helps to get rid of headaches better for some reason.

take her to the doctors and see if it is just a headache is she worried about going back to school this could be the problem or she could be coming down with something maybe get her eyes checked at the same time and see if her sight is ok as this can also give headaches

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information
