sure, it works good, just be careful with the amount of water you put into it. It should be about 1.5 cm above the rice

All rice cookers work the same.

After washing the rice, place clean water to about 1cm above the rice (for a 2 person serve > 1-2 cups). If your serving more people you may need up to 2cm but it also depends on the rice you're using and how soft you want the rice.

Best bet is to start with say 1.5cm and then adust next time to suit your personal taste.

I have a rice cooker that I don't cook rice in. I use it for everything else. I have made those lipton noodle side dishes in it, used it for instant boxed scalloped potatoes, hamburger helper Have to brown hamburger first ) Just follow the directions on the boxes, quick and easy and you don't have to watch it or stir it. I have also put in hot dogs with thinly sliced peppers and onions a little oil and let it cook away. That is just to name a few things. It really is a great kitchen helper saves a lot of time and clean up.

Depends on which type of rice you are cooking e.g. Basmati, patna, Thai, American etc - they all have different absorbency rates - read the pack instructions but above all well wash the rice in cold running water before cooking

I have baked chicken breasts before with a combination of long-grain brown rice, mushrooms, and cream of mushroom (or cream of chicken) soup, in the oven... I'm sure you could do basically the same thing in the crock pot. edit: Yeah... what that person below me said.
