Dogs being outside isnt a horrible thing. But many dogs are happy inside more than out, mainly because they get more human interaction. If your dog behaves inside, then why noy let it in as much as possible?

Mostly because you want to spend the most time with your pet as you can, especially if you're an indoor person. Another thing is when a pet is outside, it tends to get lonely, and might run away. That happened with two or three cats of mine, and my current dog sometimes wanders off, especially in the night. But if you and your dog are both outdoor people, then hey, who am I to get in your way? That's a perfect match!

it isnt, where as they would probably rather be with their owner all day, outdoor dogs are healthier because of the exersize they get. my dog is an outdoor dog and has been for the past 7 years, she is 9 and healthy as can be. she loves being outside and i also dont understand why ppl get really upset because you have an outdoor dog. my dog is outdoors, yes, but she is spoiled rotten! she is happy and that is all that matters.
hope this helps you a bit, and if anyone gives you trouble about having an outdoor dog, send them my way! :-)

I see nothing wrong with leaving a dog outside at all. Yes dog are pack animals and for all you who said dogs are pack animals and need to be inside, Show me a pack of dogs that are living in your house. And I do not understand why people on yahoo have to act so stupid and rude when someone ask a question. If you do not like the question then don't answer it.

My dogs are outside most of the day. When I arrive home they come in and spend every night inside the house with me. There is nothing wrong with a dog being left outside as long as it has adequate food and water, the weather is desirable and they have room to run around.
I’m sure any dog would rather be outside with different smells and sights then being cooped up in a crate or inside a home.

You might not want to clean the ears while you are using the medication in the ears. Wait until the ears are better or until you have the ears rechecked by the vet again. You can use ear cleaners that slightly acidifies and balances the Ph of the ears. The best ones to use are the liquid ones. You don't have to worry about how much you squirt in you want to fill the ear canal and massage the base of the ear you will hear a swishing sound as you massage the ears. Repeat the process a few times and massage the base of the ear. Then let him shake his head and any gunk will come up out of the ears. Take a cotton ball or soft gauze pad and wipe out the gunk. You can wrap the gauze around your finger tip and gently wipe down in the ear canal. Their ear canal is a L shape it is not a straight shot in like our ears you won't get near their eardrum. It is not recommended to poke down the ears with Q-tips but you can use Q-tips to clean the crevices that you can see. AS maintenance clean the ears twice a week or only as needed. If his ears don't get better then the vet will have to rule out infection verses allergies.

Keeping a dog outside is not a bad thing if that's where the dog prefers to be.
But when most people say they have an outside dog it's stuck in a kennel or on a chain all alone 24/7.The only attention it gets is when it's fed, watered or yelled at for making too much noise.
O.K.,so it has shelter, food, water and shade and it's shots as needed. But it has no COMPANIONSHIP.Dogs are pack animals.Leaving a dog in these conditions is abusive as it's [to them] like being sentenced to solitary confinement for life.
Dogs are very like children.Same rules apply to raising both.
We as humans would never dream of tossing our year old babies outside for the night all alone but we do it to our dogs at 8 weeks of age!Nor would we force them into a cage and keep them therewith nothing but a food and water bowl. That's abuse and neglect and we'd be imprisoned for the act yet do it to a dog and it's acceptable.Dogs and children both need to be able to interact with others as much as possible to learn what is and is not acceptable behavior as well as help stimulate the brain.
It's not wrong to keep them outside.
If you're outside with your dog inter-acting with it on a daily basis and allowing it to come inside to be near you and the rest of the family as well as providing for all it's other needs there's no need for you to be offended by what others say.Just try to be a little understanding in that while you're caring for your dog and providing for ALL it's needs there are hundreds of others out there who are blatently abusing their dogs by leaving them out in poor conditions that no criminal locked in prison would be forced to endure.

Dogs are pack animals by nature. They are never comfortable alone... outside or inside.
A dog feels best when there's always a "pack member" around, that could be you or another dog. If you're going to have an outside dog, just make sure you give him a buddy!

because usually when a dog is "kept" outside, it is confined to some sort of caged area. when a dog is allowed to actually become a part of the family, it will be anxious to come back inside after it's done with outside business. "oh here ya go boy! I know ya wanna be outside on the cold cement slab or wet grass or cold plastic of the dog house, instead of nice and warm and snug inside with your family." get real. dogs seek "shelter." that in itself should tell you that a dog does not want to have outside "shelter," it just needs protection from the elements, but would prefer to be part of the "pack," the "pack" being you and your family. dogs are very social creatures and thrive on love and attention. otherwise, they're just a possession for your entertainment and their feelings are of no consequence whatsoever to their owners. pardon me, but i'm very passionate about the care of domestic animals. PETS!!! not possessions to shelve until we're ready for them to entertain us again later. blessed be.

I personally think it is find to leave a dog outside, as long as they are not tied to a chain all day, have adequate shelter and they are not left out in freezing weather.
Years ago most people did leave their dogs outside the majority of a time.
