Be yourself, I know a few mormons and ask questions. You will straighten out some of the misconceptions you here from the media and society. They believe in the bible not just the book of mormon, they hold sunday as a time for only family and church etc. They do not have multiple wives, they have there own welfare program and they alot of $$$$$$$$ as a church. Famous mormons Steve Young QB, Mark Madsen FWD(basketball) Jeff Kent second baseman for the dodgers. Very interesting religion.

The Mormon church has attacked and accused all of Christianity of being apostate and being an "abomination" in the sight of God. The accusation is not backed by specifics, but merely through a "revelation" by its founder, Joseph Smith. Official LDS scripture states that the Mormon church is "the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth." The accusation that all of Christianity is apostate is still taught in current official LDS church publications, such as Gospel Principles.
Joseph Smith, the founder of the LDS Church claimed that God told him that "all their creeds were an abomination in his sight." The LDS Church continues to attack all Christian denominations, claiming, "More and more error crept into Church doctrine, and soon the destruction of the Church was complete."
The Mormon Articles of Faith are an attempt to hide all of the LDS teachings that separate the Mormon church from those taught by other Christian denominations.
The LDS church does not encourage critical testing of their faith, but, in fact, discourages it. Mormons and potential converts are encourage to pray to determine if their faith is true. Since the Mormon religion is based upon a feeling that it is true, can one person's feelings be tested against another's?
Here is a short video about the Story of Joseph Smith that tells how the religion was started-

This page explains what specific LDS doctrines make the LDS church a cult -
http://www.godandscience.org/cults/mormdiff.html
And, by the way, the Heavenly Father Mormons pray to is the Father of Satan. He is an exalted polygamous man on some far away planet near "Kolob". LDS think Jesus Christ and Satan are spirit brothers, and that Satan is their brother as well. Lucifer/Satan is the Mormon temple god; their temples are decorated with occultic symbols including the inverted pentagram. In the Mormon temple it is Lucifer's power and priesthood they invoke, it is Lucifer (not Jesus) who leads the Mormon on the "path to godhood"... Mormons believe the same lie that he told to Adam and Eve. Mormons are also very into necromancy (conjuration of the spirits of the dead for purposes of magically revealing the future or influencing the course of events) - they have the book of Mormon from an angel they're not sure if it was Nephi or Moroni who was dead native Amierican, "authority", doctrine, and revelations from the dead (Peter, James, John, John the Baptist), baptisms for the dead, marriages with the dead, geneology research on the dead....etc.

We beleive in Christ, God, Holy Ghost, Baptism, Faith, Repentance, obedience to the commandments, chastity, virtue.
We dont drink, smoke, do drugs, have premarital sex, adultery, we dont shop or anything like that on Sunday, we have a website www.lds.org . There is a section that tells all the articles of faith. Its very helpful.
Basically, we try to do good and be good examples of the Savior and show people how they can be happy by following the Lord. We love to be of service and are very happy people. Sure we have trials, I'm queen of trials, but I guess that means I have lots to learn and the Lord loves me enough to show me.
Good for you, its great having a Latter Day Saint as a friend, you will have a true friend for life.

While I could answer that question (and I'm not avoiding it just to be mean) I would have a better recommendation that will strengthen your friendship as well as learn exactly what your friend will be offended by and what not. Just ask lots of questions, 90% of the time, we are more than happy to answer questions and this way you will be able to know exactly what your friend might be offended by. Also, if you want to know more without asking your friend, go to http://www.mormon.org and check out our Articles of Faith.

Hello =)
Mormons are Christians....
They have a few peculiar beliefs in their practice, that are unique to their faith, but, by and large, their beliefs are mainstream.
As far as their social practices, Mormons are generally forbidden to consume tobacco, coffee, and tea.
Otherwise, they are virtually indistinguishable from any other protestant Christian denomination, except for, as I said, a few peculiarities in their scriptures, and how that came to be, which is really interesting, actually, and if your friend ever decides to talk about that, you'll find it very intriguing, albeit to my taste, somewhat incredible.
Namaste,

They have a cult> They believe that we can be gods of other worlds if we are good enough that Jesus and satan are brothers that Jesus was the Prince of some planet called Kolob they still believe that a man can have many wives but they do not practice it because it is against the law of man so they are hypocritical in that too. They think that GOD Almighty is up there with "spirit" wives spawning "spirit" babies that then have to come to earth to get a body and a whole bunch of other very UN-Biblical junk.

they believe that God was flesh and Bone, and that God had sex with Mary to impregnate her with his son, that Jesus and Satan are brothers, and that in order to go to the celestial kingdom, you have to be married in their temple, and where special underwear, and that they need to follow the prophet
they believe that they will become gods after they die, and they will have multiply wives in heaven, and that they will make spirit babies to go to the earths they have created.
they don't drink coffee.
they believe that women are not equal to men, they believe that any other race other then white is a curse from God, and that, although other races may get into heaven, they will not be as glorified by God then whites.
they believe that people are in heaven waiting to become Gods, and must baptize the dead in order for them to get their chance.
they believe that the book of Mormon is true and historically accurate, and that the Native Americans were descendants of Israelites.
they base their faith on a "feeling" rather then truth.
and they are a brainwashing cult.
your friend will no longer have the same personality because every part of life is put into this cult.
don't let your friend join! look into the truth!
good luck

just ask him/her. no, i am not mormon, but have many friends who are. as for the biggest fable, true mormons (LDS) are NOT polygamists - those (FLDS) were banished from the church in 1890. to date, this is a structured religion i have come across who, unparralleled, firmly puts their money were their mouth is in their beliefs - in family values, education, charity work, community support, social services, missionary work, humility, and asks nothing in return. (yeah i can already forsee all the thumbs down for this opinion) - don't waste your time. go find out for yourselves. thank you for asking and having an open mind.

I think that they don't believe in virgins or saints, just in God or Jesus. I'm not sure. My aunt is a Mormon but I don't get along with her. Also, they don't like to see Jesus in the cross. They hate that, they always have pictures of him without being on the cross.

one in each of their significant beliefs is they must be allowed to impose their "non secular beliefs" on all of us else and they have the right to vote away the civil rights and non secular liberty from different individuals. it truly is the reason they contributed more suitable than $30 million to help the evil Prop. 8 in California.
