Go to All-Recipes. There are some no-bake ones, too.
Here is a simple one, and it uses cake mix! You can use any flavor, the devil's food is yummy for chocolate though. The cake mix has the baking soda, salt, flour, etc already in it, so if you have it then you probably have all the ingredients on hand:
INGREDIENTS
1 (18.25 ounce) package devil's food cake mix
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
In a medium bowl, stir together the cake mix, eggs and oil until well blended. Fold in the chocolate chips. Roll the dough into walnut sized balls. Place the cookies 2 inches apart on the cookie sheet.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Buy a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips from the grocery store. It will have a recipe for cookies on the back.
Quaker oats (plain oats, not instant oatmeal) has a recipe for oatmeal cookies on the box or the inside of the lid. If you don't live in the U.S., I'm not sure which brand to recommend.
You could buy a box of cookie mix, which is kind of like cake mix, and follow the directions on the box. That sort of counts as fresh.

I LOVE to bake cookies, and I think the pre-made pillsburry chocolate chip cookie dough is the best! Tastes just like homemade or even better! Just cut, bake, and enjoy! Cheap, easy, not-messy, and most important, Delicious!

The best cookies ever are on the back of the tollhouse morsels bag. The key is to bake them for the fewest amount it says on the bag. It makes them nice and chewy.

This is a very simple recipe and your child will love them. Grown ups do too. Snickerdoodles are an old time favorite.
