The Six Hidden Dangers in Walking for Weight Loss
If you are able to, stop walking, and start 'intervaling'
Walking will keep your heart rate relatively low. Walking will train your body to burn calories more efficiently (this is bad). Walking will not raise your metabolism to the level that is should be at the burn more fat and process food at faster rates. Walking will not help you build any muscle. Walking will take along time to see end results. Walking will program your body to gain more weight in the future.
Intervals will raise your heart rate. Intervals will raise your metabolism for up to 48 hours after the interval workout. Intervals will teach your body to burn more calories per day, per hour, even per minute of being awake or while sleeping. Intervals will also deliver greater results much, much faster.
What are cardio intervals and who are they for?
Cardio intervals can be described as a form of mixed speeds of cardio. Instead of staying at one speed throughout the workout, you will start off with a slow speed to warm up. Progress to a FAST speed for up to 2 minutes followed by another slow speed for twice the amount of time as the FAST speed. You will repeat this for up to 30 minutes of total workout time.
Cardio intervals are virtually designed to enhance the overall performance of anyone who does them. For the most part, they can be done by everyone. The main people that won't be able to handle intervals will be elderly, sick, injured, people who suffer from poor knees, ankles, hips, back injuries, etc.
Simply implement the defined strategy above and watch your fat come running off of your body, literally.

It really depends on your diet. You could walk for 5 hours but if you dont watch what you eat you wont notice much improvement. I am not telling you to diet. I'm not even telling you not to have fast food every once in a while. Just eat sensibly more often than not. That, along with your exercise will promote healthy weight loss. You should see results within two months. You should FEEL results within two weeks. Also, I have heard that it doesnt really matter if you walk slowly or quickly. Any exercise should help. You could try doing intervals of both. Speed walking for five min, slow for 2 min and repeat until the time is up.

If you walk this much every single day AND eat reasonably (you don't have to starve yourself), you'll start seeing the pounds drop off almost immediately--you'll probably be a couple pounds lighter by the end of the week.
Biking is three times as effective as walking, so if you split up your routine and do 45 minutes walking and 45 minutes biking at 12-14 mph, you'll lose weight even faster, as fast as 4-6 pounds per week if you also limit your intake of fat.

Walking slowly is better for circulation than sitting or standing but does not get your cardiac rate high enough to burn more calories. To lose weight you should do power walking-- walking as fast as you can. It is an olympic event and does not have high impact on joints like running. Site below has lots of info on losing weight.

Any exercise has its benefits. Of course speed walking would burn more calories than normal walking would. I would split walking up to maybe three 1/2 hr sessions of speed walking a week. Try to eat healthy also. You will start losing weight when you burn more calories than you ingest.

Its not speed walk or slowly do it at your regular pace but the hour and a half has to be above and beyond what you normally do in a day. I would say you would feel better in about a week and notice results before a month.

Yes.
however its important to increase your interval. Change the terrain. Go uphill, down hill, flat, grass, park, beach.
Cardio comes from having your heart beating. So if you walk its going to be less cals per hour then powerwalking, and powerwalking will be less then jogging and jogging will be less then running.
Most important thing is you SHOULD be alittle tired when you are done. If not... then you need to change something, whether it be the time, method or terrain, change something
:-) Good Luck!
