Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy mind, with all thy body and with all thy soul.

And the second is as the first, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

That is the whole of the law. The rest is commentary.

JESUS came to fulfill the commandments and gave us a way to obey GOD not by fear but by love. In the Old Testament period, the Israelites failed to obey the commandments but now with the power of the HOLY SPIRIT, everybody can easily obey to GOD by love of JESUS CHRIST.
JESUS did not replace the Ten Commandments but the commandments are now to be obeyed by a different manner. JESUS says in Mathew 5:17-37 that we should not get angry with our brother's, which is equal to murder, we should not even see a women with lust which is equal to adultery. We should not even falsely swear which breaks the ninth commandment. We should love our neighbours and enemies, which is the tenth commandment.

HE also says two commandments in Mathew 22:37-40 that
1. Love the LORD YOUR GOD with all your mind heart and soul and
2. Love your neighbour as yourself.

Matthew 5:17-20
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish the Law but to fulfil them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, nor the least stroke of a pen will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven."

everything commandment that the Pharisees practiced, it appears. notice, "until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, nor the least stroke of a pen will by any means disappear from the Law"

Mark 12:28-31
And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

the 2 Commandments encompass all 10. the first 4 deal with your relationship to God and the last 6 deal with your relationship to other people.

To Love God with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself. These 2 commandments are pinned upon love. Imagine that. Out of all the attributes that a omniscient omnipotent God could pin His commandments on, He chooses "love". He could have chosen "obedience" by giving us odd commandments like we must all wear pine needle hats on tuesdays.....or on "divine retribution" or "vengence" or "friendship"....but He didn't. He chose "love". Thank you God for that.
